The chubbyhead barbs, a distinct group of fishes endemic to southern Africa, currently include eight valid species. Historically, Enteromius anoplus was the most widespread freshwater fish in South Africa due to synonymizations in the 1960s. It occurred in nearly every river system except coastal systems in the Cape Fold Ecoregion and the lower Ora...
Amin M, Musdalifah L, Lewaru MW, Alimuddin, Alim S, Martin MB. 2024. Profiling of microbiome biodiversity and structure associated with the gastrointestinal tract of Pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) using high-throughput sequencing. Biodiversitas 25: 1984-1992. The Pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) holds significant importance as an aq...
Crustaceans possess a range of sensory organs crucial in sensory perception, communication, and various ecological functions. Understanding morphological and functional differences in antennae among species could validate taxonomic differentiation and ecological adaptations. The antennae morphology and ultrastructure of mud crab species within the...
The high demand for spiny lobster seeds has placed intense pressure on the lobsters’ wild stock in Indonesia. To address this issue, a hatchery was developed to produce scalloped spiny lobster larvae. However, the dietary requirements after the yolk sac has been depleted have proven to be a significant challenge. Thus, the present study aimed to id...
A checklist of parasitic cymothoids from Malaysian waters is presented based on available literature and material collected from 2010 to 2020. Most of the collected specimens were recorded from waters of Terengganu, east coast of Peninsular Malaysia (facing the South China Sea), whereas literature records were included from Sarawak, along the Miri...
This study focuses on the parasites of Pateobatis uarnacoides. The commercial value of P.uarnacoides creates a need for a comprehensive checklist of its parasites to ensure its safety and quality. This study aims to identify parasites of P.uarnacoides and analyse their prevalence and mean intensity in Terengganu waters. In October 2018, 30 P. uarna...
This study provides a list of decapod crustacean families from Bidong Island retrieved from the collections of South China Sea Repository and Reference Centre (RRC), Institute of Oceanography and Environment. Three infraorders are present based on the collections, namely Anomura, Brachyura, and Caridea, and are constituted by 15 families. Based on...
Although horseshoe crabs have ecological and biomedical value, their restricted
distribution in the northeast coast (Odisha, West Bengal) to a limited number of researchers
have made them an understudied arthropod in India. With an objective that uses ‘desktop
review’ for horseshoe crab ecology, biology and their life cycle in India, it is learnt t...
This chapter provides a brief overview of crustacean parasites that infect commercially important fish and shellfish. Crustaceans are a diverse group of arthropods, with over 60,000 species that are significant to the aquaculture and fisheries sector, including parasitic species affecting other crustaceans, mollusks, and fishes. This chapter focuse...
Peacock bass (Cichla spp.) originates from the Neotropical environments of Brazil and Venezuela but, through trade and smuggling for aquarium keeping, sport fishing and aquaculture, it is now an emerging concern. Yet, less is known for Cichla spp. distribution and its ability to invade new environments. Aimed to communicate on Cichla spp. ecology,...
Enteromiuspallidus was described by Smith in 1841 without a designated type specimen for the species. Herein, we designate a specimen from the Baakens River system as a neotype for E.pallidus and provide a thorough description for this species to facilitate ongoing taxonomic revisions of southern African Enteromius. Enteromiuspallidus can be distin...
Cymothoid isopods are parasitic crustaceans of fishes that can cause considerable damage to their host. The first record of Mothocya melanosticta (Schiöedte and Meinert 1884) parasitizing blue flying fish Exocoetus volitans Linnaeus 1758 and Indian sardine Sardinella sindensis (Day, 1878) is here reported from the southeast coast of India. The spec...
The data available in this repository were gathered from Balok, the only most productive
spawning site for horseshoe crabs Tachypleus gigas and Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda in East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The mangrove horseshoe crabs, C. rotundicauda population and spawning data are available in the first table. These horseshoe crabs were ret...

Ryukyua circularis (Pillai, 1954) is recorded here for the first time on the host Amblygaster clupeoides Bleeker, 1849 from
Indian waters. The species is redescribed with illustrations of the gravid female, adult male and manca from its type locality,
and the known hosts and geographical records of the species are reviewed. Ryukyua circularis is re...
The genus Cymothoa Fabricius, 1793 is revised for Australian waters. Cymothoa hermani Hadfield, Bruce & Smit, 2011, previously known from Tanzania on the host Selar crumenophthalmus (Bloch, 1793) is new to Australian waters. Cymothoa carangi Avdeev, 1979; Cymothoa epimerica Avdeev, 1979; Cymothoa parupenei Avdeev, 1979; Cymothoa propria Avdeev, 197...
Cymothoa rhina Schioedte & Meinert, 1884 is redescribed from specimens collected in Singapore, the female of which is designated as neotype. Adult female Cymothoa rhina can be identified by the acute anterior margin of the cephalon, anterolateral projections on pereonite 1 extending anteriorly along half the length of the cephalon, pleotelson poste...
Two species of Glossobius Schioedte & Meinert, 1883 are known from Australia: Glossobius anctus Bruce & Bowman,1989 and Glossobius impressus (Say, 1818), the latter recorded here for the first time from Australia and southern Africa. Glossobius ogasawarensis Nunomura, 1994 is here placed in synonymy with Glossobius auritus Bovallius, 1885; whereas...
The genus Ceratothoa Dana, 1852, is revised for Australian waters. Ceratothoa is represented in Australia by nine species, including two new species: Ceratothoa barracuda sp. nov. described from Cairns and Ceratothoa globulus sp. nov. described from Lord Howe Island. Ceratothoa imbricata Fabricius, 1775 is redescribed, with Ceratothoa trillesi (Avd...
Smenispa irregularis (Bleeker, 1857) is reported from the host Acanthopagrus latus (Sparidae) from Western Australia. The nomenclatural change from Enispa Schioedte and Meinert, 1884 to Smenispa Özdikem, 2009 is discussed and a full description provided for Smenispa irregularis. The species is identified by the strongly vaulted body shape, pereonit...

Ichthyoxenus puhi (Bowman, 1962) is reported for the first time from Mauritius on the host Gymnothorax griseus (Lacépède, 1803), expanding its distribution from Hawaii to the western Indian Ocean. I. puhi is characterized by its oval-shaped body, well-developed posterior lobes on the pereonites, lateral ends of pleonites longer than pereonite 7, pl...
Cultured striped trumpeter Latris lineata was held in sea cage systems or a land-based facility in south-eastern Tasmania. Visual checks of metazoan ectoparasites were conducted on six cohorts (T1 to T6) in the land-based facility from 2006 to 2007, and three cohorts (C1 to C3) held in cages from 2007 to 2008. Three parasite species were recorded;...
Ceratothoa carinata (Bianconi, 1869) and Ceratothoa oxyrrhynchaena Koelbel, 1878 are recorded for the first time from Australia and redescribed. Ceratothoa curvicauda Nunomura, 2006 is synonymised with Ceratothoa carinata. Brief accounts are given on the distribution and hosts of these species.

I have a data matrix of 31 taxa and 76 characters that has been analysed in PAUP and intend to view those trees, but to my knowing McClade doesn't run on the latest MAC operating systems.
Thank you in advance
