The pre-tender cost estimation serves as the foundation for determining the project cost in the early stages and is crucial for all parties involved in the tendering process. It is expected to be highly accurate. However, industry surveys have advocated that in the Iranian construction industry, the pre-tender estimated costs of construction projec...
Today, surface treatments have become extensively popular for pavement maintenance and repair around the globe. A major environmental problem of the present age is the ever-increasing generation of construction wastes (CWs). Application of recycled CW in pavements can contribute to preservation of non-renewable materials while reducing the environm...

Risk assessment is one of the most effective actions in the safety management of demolition projects. This paper provides a framework to determine building demolition safety index (BDSI), which shows the safety level of a building being demolished. Two phases are involved in this study. In the first phase, 11 potential risks in building demolition...
Purpose
Demolition is a high-risk operation in construction projects that may lead to serious accidents. Risk assessment is a fundamental step in managing demolition risk and preventing casualties and financial losses. The present study aims to provide a framework to identify, analyse and evaluate the risks in building demolition operations.

In a competitive construction environment, contractors are often faced with a large number of tenders that compel them to make the best decision in a limited time. In this paper, a decision support system (DSS) based on group method of data handling model (GMDH) was developed for the scoring of tenders (STs). Based on a comprehensive study of the e...
The greater parts of Iranian roads are of the asphaltic kind. The real reason behind making this type of road lies in the abundance of bitumen and the cheaper price of the substance in past years. The upward spiraling price of oil at the global level and the liberalization of subsidies were responsible for rocketing prices of asphalt pavement. As a...
In this study, the demand of the Iran’s energy carriers is analyzed and modeled for the country’s largest consumer, buildings and related industries, in the status quo and future perspective. To this objective, the building sector is divided into two sections: household section (residential buildings) and services (business-office and service build...

A gigantic evolution has been brought about in the railway transportation by the emergence of the expressways as the most efficient method of carrying passengers within short and medium interurban distances. Various types of expressway pavements have been offered during the recent years. A considerable amount of the repair and maintenance costs in...
Steady increase in overexploitation of stone quarries, generation of construction and demolition waste, and costs of preparing extra landfill space have become environmental and waste management challenges in metropolises. In this paper, aggregate production is studied in two scenarios: scenario 1 representing the production of natural aggregates (...
Natural aggregates (NA) are crushed and processed in crushing plants after the extraction stage in quarries. In the present study, the aggregates are divided into three scenarios, depending on the production methods. The first scenario considers the production of NA, the second scenario deals with the production of recycled aggregates (RA) with res...
Aggregates are generally divided into three scenarios, depending on the production methods. The first scenario considers the production of natural aggregates (NA), while the second scenario views the production of recycled aggregates (RA) with construction and demolition (C&D) waste. The third scenario, however, is a hybrid scenario which is the co...
With the increase in human and industrial activities, and as a result of global warming and environmental pollution, which pose many serious risks for health, safety and human life, construction activities are rapidly changing the shape of the earth, and the construction industry consumes half of the world's physical resources.
