Purpose: Competition in dynamic markets requires operational excellence and effective operations strategy. Hence, organizations have to evaluate their operational performance in comparison to their rivals. For this purpose, this paper presents an operational performance evaluation framework for analyzing and ranking the organizations based on the e...

One of the most important steps to build an appropriate business unit is to setup a suitable longterm strategy. A good strategy helps organization take better advantage of the existing resources and improve the performance of the firm. This paper presents a hybrid method consists of importance-performance analysis combined with fuzzy analytical hie...

People with various skill sets and backgrounds are usually found working on projects and thus, group decision-making (GDM) is one of the most important functions within any project. However, when projects concern healthcare or other critical services for proletariat or general public (especially during COVID19), the importance of GDM can hardly be...

One of the most important activities in any organization is the identification and selection of the right supplier. The responsible organizations determine the performance of their potential suppliers based on the attributes that are aligned with their sustainable development goals. Data regarding these attributes can be qualitative and/or quantita...

Performance evaluation using interactive methods and extended ratio-based approaches can be very important for some organizations. Free disposal hull models can be created if there is no concern for convexity, and using non-radial DEA models can simultaneously create more logical and practical situations for finding DMU targets. In this paper, a ne...

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the world's economic condition significantly, and construction projects have faced many challenges and disruptions as well. This should be an alarm bell for project-oriented organizations to be prepared for such events and take necessary actions at the earliest time. In this regard, project-oriented organizations...

Purpose - Selecting a suitable contract to outsource construction projects is an ongoing concern for project managers and organizational directors. This study aims to propose a comprehensive model to manage the risks of outsourced construction project contracts. Design/methodology/approach - To employ the proposed model, firstly, the types of cont...

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to solve large-scale many-to-many hub location-routing problem (MMHLRP) using variable neighborhood search (VNS). The MMHLRP is a combination of a single allocation hub location and traveling salesman problems that are known as one of the new fields in routing problems. MMHLRP is considered NP-hard since the tw...

Linear programming is being widely applied in various fields e.g., management sciences, operations research, economics and engineering. In real-world settings, the input data of linear programming models entail many uncertainties. Overlooking these uncertainties may lead to erroneous decision making. In the problems surrounding uncertainty and inco...

The competitive hub location and pricing problem (CHLPP) describes a situation in which the incumbent firm has already established an optimal hub network with existing hubs for cost minimisation to satisfy all demands. The entrant designs a network to maximise its profit and applies optimal pricing, considering that the existing firm applies mill p...

This paper introduces a new robust data envelopment analysis (RDEA) approach for analyzing and ranking the organizations' operations strategies. In the proposed RDEA method, pessimistic and optimistic efficiencies of decision making units (DMUs) obtained from the robust counterpart of the envelopment form and the optimistic counterpart of the multi...

Fuzzy p-hub center problem is proposed and solved by genetic algorithm incorporating local search (GALS) before. In real world, opening hubs may need considerable cost. In this situation, minimization of the hub numbers is important, too. So in this paper, a bi-objective p-hub center problem is presented. To solve the proposed bi-objective model, w...

This paper presents a linear reliability-based model as an extension of the well-known linear location set covering problem (LSCP) for emergency service vehicles such as ambulances. Linear programming models have a practical advantage over other nonlinear or queuing-based models. They can be simply coded by practitioners and can be solved routinely...

One way to increase the companies’ performance and reducing their costs is to concern the transportation industry. Many-to-many hub location-routing problem (MMHLRP) is one of the problems that can affect the process of transportation costs. The problem of MMHLRP is one of the NP-HARD problems. Hence, solving it by exact methods is not affordable;...

Quadratic assignment problem (QAP) has been considered as one of the most complicated problems. The problem is NP-Hard and the optimal solutions are not available for large-scale problems. This paper presents a hybrid method using tabu search and simulated annealing technique to solve QAP called TABUSA. Using some well-known problems from QAPLIB ge...
