Introduction
I am an Assistant (Teaching) Professor in the School of International Relations at the University of Southern California. I am a PI in the Security and Political Economy Lab and the 2017 recipient of the Craig Brians Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research and Mentorship, awarded by the APSA. In 2019-20, I am a faculty fellow with the Project on Teaching Integrity in Empirical Research (https://www.projecttier.org) My IR research considers the delegation of security to a variety of actors. I study who fights in civil wars, particularly those on the side of the government that are not a part of official government military forces.
