Introduction
An investigation designed to analyze the response and degradation of composite/metallic adhesively bonded joints subjected to thermal fatigue by the fracture mechanics approach. The research focuses on the examination of bond line cracking in the adhesive/adherend interface. A coupled finite element (using ABAQUS) /experimental analysis framework has been designed to explore the degradation and failure of the joints

An experimental investigation is conducted to evaluate the potential degradation in the mechanical properties of an epoxy resin and unidirectional glass fiber-reinforced epoxy (GFRE) as a result of exposure to fluctuating temperature. A commonly used room-cured epoxy resin and the GFRE are subjected to various numbers of thermal cycles (up to 1000...
Article
When adhesively bonded joints undergo thermal fluctuations, they become fatigued and suffer mechanical degradation. A comprehensive experimental investigation is conducted to examine the performance and degradation of adhesively bonded joints, in the form of the standard double cantilever beam specimen, subject to various levels of cyclic thermal l...

The contribution of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) for enhancing the fracture toughness of a commonly used room-cured epoxy, used to bond E-glass/epoxy composite adherends, is evaluated. A comprehensive experimental investigation is conducted to examine the performance and degradation of adhesively bonded joints subject to cyclic thermal loading usi...

The low-velocity impact response of graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) reinforced 3D fiber metal laminates (3DFML) is experimentally investigated. Two types of GNPs, pristine GNP (PG) and amino-functionalized GNP (NH2-G), are used strategically to reinforce the resin used to mate the two main constituents of the 3DFMLs. In order to establish the most opt...

Strengthening of reinforced concrete (R.C.) structures is often necessary due to a local defect in one or several of its members. Strengthening methods themselves have seen noticeable improvements over the years. Among the most important of these methods is, undoubtedly, the Fiber Reinforced Polymer technology. This paper introduces the Carbon Fibe...
