Soft soils contaminated with sulfates present significant geotechnical challenges in construction. While previous research explored using fibers for soil stabilization, limited knowledge exists about polypropylene fibers (PF) effects on lime-stabilized soils contaminated with sulfates. This study investigates PF's influence on compressibility and m...
This article conducts a thorough comparative analysis of two prevalent approaches for assessing soil settlement in geotechnical engineering. The conventional method relies on consolidation measurements, whereas the AZAOKA method utilizes real-time data gathered by settlement gauges. The study assesses various factors, including accuracy, speed, cos...
Developing road infrastructure is vital for global economic growth, ensuring safe travel for passengers. Numerical modeling is crucial for analyzing road pavement stability under vehicle stress, reducing costs, and expediting construction. This study focuses on the unstable slope conditions at the "TAFOUGHLT" interchange in Tizi-Ouzou, Algeria, due to frequent landslides that have damaged the road infrastructure. The research aims to assess and reinforce slope stability to enable the construction of a highway connecting Tizi-Ouzou to the East-West highway. Various investigations, inc...
This paper focuses on assessing natural hazards in northern Algeria, particularly landslides, earthquakes, and floods, which result in substantial material and human losses. The specific objective of this study is to investigate landslides in the Djebahia region, specifically related to the water transfer pipeline from the Acerdoune dam to M’sila t...
Landslides pose a significant threat to buildings, the population, road networks, and various infrastructures. They are a common occurrence in the Algiers region, which is the focal area of our study, exhibiting obvious signs of instability such as pavement and building cracks. This instability can be attributed to the region's geological compositi...

Landslides in urban areas have become a pressing concern worldwide due to rapid urbanization, environmental changes, and improper land use practices, significantly heightening the risk of such events. This phenomenon poses significant threats to human lives, infrastructure, and the environment. Understanding the causes, triggers, and mitigation str...
This study aimed to investigate the impact of adding sodium chloride (NaCl) to lime-stabilized soft grey clayey soil (GS) and its geotechnical implications. The significance lies in understanding how NaCl influences the geotechnical properties of the soil and its potential benefits for engineering applications. While past research has explored lime...
This study aimed to assess the influence of lime and polypropylene fibers as reinforcement on the geotechnical properties, including Atterberg limits and compaction properties, of stabilized grey clayey soil. The soil samples underwent treatment with varying lime content (0, 4, and 8% by dry weight of soil) and different amounts of polypropylene fi...
The phenomena of gravitational instabilities of natural slopes are considered natural hazards encountered in all countries around the world due to various natural or anthropogenic factors. Their deformations affect approximately all geological materials (natural rocks, soil, or combinations of these materials) and can occur and develop in a wide va...
This paper aims to assess the behavior of the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of polypropylene fiber (PF) reinforced natural pozzolana-lime-stabilized expansive grey clayey soil (GS) contaminated by sulfates. Lime (0–8%), natural pozzolana (NP) (0–20%), and PF (0–3%) by dry weight of soil were used. GS was contaminated by different sulfate co...
This study was carried out to assess the effect of Motor oil (MO), gypsum and sodium chloride (NaCl) used as additives on geotechnical properties of the grey clayey soil (GS) stabilized with 0, 4, and 8% lime. Each additive was added to the GS with 0, 2, and 4% by dry weight of soil. However, different unconfined compressive strength (UCS) tests we...
