Dendrochilum ignisiflorum is hereby described and illustrated as a new species of orchid endemic to Luzon Island, Philippines. The species resembles D. vanoverberghii by having petiolate leaves, channelled petioles, labellum of the same size, and the erect to suberect incurved column but distinct by the sub-globose or broadly ellipsoid pseudobulb,...
Rigiolepis bungeputih Mustaqim & M.N.Tamayo, a close relative of blueberries (Vaccinium L.) and endemic to the tropical evergreen mossy rainforest of northern Gayo Plateau, Sumatra, Indonesia, is here described. It closely resembles R. gayoensis Mustaqim, M.N.Tamayo & P.W.Fritsch, but differs by having a glabrous stem, larger leaves, glabrous pedic...
Two new species of tropical blueberry from central Sabah, Malaysian Borneo, are described and illustrated. Vaccinium madanii resembles V. clementis but is distinct by the presence of glands along the leaf blade margin, a longer inflorescence, longer pedicels, a pubescent hypanthium, and anther spurs longer than the tubules. Vaccinium maliauense res...
A new species of orchid, Bulbophyllum bokodense, is herein described and illustrated from Benguet Province, Luzon Island, Philippines. It closely resembles Bulbophyllum rinkei endemic to New Guinea, but is distinct by having a broader leaf, a shorter inflorescence, an acute petal apex, glabrous auricles, a slightly canaliculate labellum, mid lobe a...
Three new species of Vaccinium endemic to the island of Mindanao, Philippines are here described and illustrated. Vaccinium fallax most closely resembles V. myrtoides, but differs by having smaller leaves, caducous bracts, shorter pedicels, a broadly obconical hypanthium, broadly triangular calyx lobes, and a deep pink and broadly urceolate corolla...
Two new species of Bulbophyllum, B . barcelonae and B . pelseri are described here from the Pantabangan‐Carranglan Watershed Forest Reserve, Luzon Island, Philippines. Bulbophyllum barcelonae resembles B . charisae , but differs by having smaller vegetative parts, ovate petals with a rounded apex, and a labellum with two ridges that are strongly an...
A new micro-endemic species of Rhododendron is described and illustrated from botanical expeditions to the Victoria-Anepahan Mountain Range on the island of Palawan. It closely resembles Rhododendron wilkiei but differs in having leaves with laminae that are narrowly elliptic-oblanceolate, have adaxially indistinct venation, and are arranged in 4-8...
A new species of Ericaceae from the Gayo Plateau, Aceh Province, Indonesia is described. Rigiolepis gayoensis resembles R. lanceolata but differs by having shorter leaves, non-protruding basal leaf glands, longer flowering pedicels, a glabrous hypan-thium, and a dark red or maroon corolla. A detailed morphological description, ecological notes, con...
A new species of blueberry, Vaccinium coarctatum M.N.Tamayo & Fernando, from the dwarf forest on ultramafic soil of Dinagat Island, Philippines, is described. It closely resembles Vaccinium hamiguitanense P.W.Fritsch but is distinct from that species in having a longer inflorescence, shorter pedicels, longer and persistent bracteoles, white-hirsutu...
Two new species of Vaccinium from the Philippines are described and illustrated from historical herbarium collections. Vaccinium burburan from Luzon Island, Northern Philippines is morphologically similar to V. tenuipes, but is distinguished by having shorter petioles, pedicels and corolla, adaxially pubescent leaf blades with cordate base, apicall...
Vaccinium paradoxum is described as a new species of blueberry from the lowland ultrabasic forest of Northern Sierra Madre Natural Park, Luzon Island, Philippines. It resembles V. halconense, but differs by having shorter inflorescences, fewer flowers per inflorescence, a glabrous inner surface of the corolla, absence of anther spurs, and a glabrou...
Vaccinium carmesinum is described as a new species of Ericaceae from Mt. Tago Range, Mindanao Island, Philippines. It is
similar to V. platyphyllum Merrill and V. luzoniense S.Vidal but is distinct from the former by longer and wider leaves, longer
racemes, longer bracts, glabrous corollas, and glabrescent fruits, and from the latter by longer peti...
On recent expeditions, two endemic new species of Begonia sect. Baryandra, Begonia obscuribracteata Y.P.Ang, Cabanillas & M.N.Tamayo and Begonia tandikan Pranada, L.M.Camangeg, Cabanillas & Y.P.Ang, were discovered and are hereby described and illustrated. Begonia obscuribracteata is similar to B. cabanillasii Y.P.Ang et al. in having suborbicular...
Ardisia kalimbahin is herein described and illustrated as a new species. It is the latest addition to the richness of Ardisia in the Philippines. It closely resembles A. romanii Elmer but is distinct in having shorter petiole, shorter elliptic leaves, racemose inflorescence, longer and sparsely puberulent pedicels, magenta corolla lobes, basifixed...
A new species and a rediscovery in the genus Saurauia (Actinidiaceae) from

The taxonomic identity of the incompletely described Amorphophallus longispathaceus Engl. & Gehrm. has been a mystery for almost 109 years. Types were assumed destroyed during WWII, other than a sterile isotype at K, the recent discov-ery of a fertile isotype at NY, here designated the lectotype, has enabled the identity of this species to be clari...
