The contribution investigates the correlation between word order and focus in Basque, showing that the distribution of foci depends on anchoring constraints. I propose a distinction between foci connected either to the discourse level or the speaker's epistemic and doxastic evaluation of the proposition, hosted in a high or a low focus projection.
