Water is the most restraining factor to agricultural production worldwide. The quantities of water used by crops by far exceed any other element and consume 70% of all fresh water withdrawals. How to economize this resource in agriculture and to save water for households and environment is thus an essential question accentuated by climate change. My research covers a spectrum from crop production experiments to physiological and molecular characterization of plants’ reaction to water deficit.
