Throughout the ages, geological bedrock has significantly determined the structure of the Tatra stonefly taxocoenoses. Because of the high altitude and discharge of the streams, stoneflies are mainly affected by alkalinity, Ca, and Si. Statistical analysis has previously shown that alkalinity, Ca and Si content, catchment area, and altitude are cor...
Known Plecoptera data published from Azerbaijan are critically reviewed. New records of 28 species are enumerated on the basis of specimens collected between 2017 and 2019, among them 16 are new for the fauna of Azerbaijan. Nemoura irani Aubert, 1964 is new for the whole Caucasian region, Leuctra sanainica Zhiltzova, 1960 and Plesioperla sakartvell...
A new micropterous species, Leuctra khachapuri Žiak et Martynov, sp. nov., from the hippopus species-group is described and illustrated based on morphological features of males and females. The new species occurs in crenal waterbodies of the alpine zone of the Adjaro-Imeretian (Meskhetian) Mountain Range, the Lesser Caucasus.
Vysoká koncentrácia rozpustených látok determinuje bohatstvo niektorých skupín hydrobiontov napríklad mäkkýšov a veľkých kôrovcov, ktoré potrebujú veľa vápnika na stavbu schránok a pancierov. Niektoré hydrobionty uprednostňujú vody karbonátových masívov, teda s vysokou koncentráciou vápnika – dvojkrídlovce, ďalšie sa nachádzajú vo vodách menej boha...
Plecoptera are well-studied throughout all European Union due to long-term and detailed research, but in Ukraine this group is just been started to be investigated. For the present moment, only species lists and isolated descriptions were published for Ukrainian Carpathians and Crimea. In addition, the structure of stonefly communities of Ukrainian...
A specific community of stoneflies corresponds to a specific river basin. However, it is common for one river basin to drain several geomorphologic units which might have differing environmental properties. Our work shows that an important role in the spread of stoneflies is also played by these very geomorphologic units and their specific properti...
Stonefly fauna of Eastern Ukraine were investigated. Despite the numerous significant material and big number of sampling sites only five species of stoneflies in four genera and three families were registered in Eastern Ukraine. Habitat preferences of species were analyzed. Most numerous species within the region is Nemoura cinerea (Retzius, 1783)...
This paper is focused on evaluation and specification of distribution of selected autecological characteristics of stonelies (Plecoptera) species in the territory of Slovakia. Plectopera fauna was analyzed with regard to spatial profile including basins and their size, ecoregions, geomorphological units, vertical profile (altitude), longitudinal pr...
In the course of the last 30 years, a considerable effort was put into recognizing
of water invertebrates of the Turiec river basin. This article is based on a significant part
of ascertained data in this regard. The Turiec basin drains three geomorphologic units of
the Western Carpathians – Kremnické Mts., Veľká and Malá Fatra Mts. In the explored...
During the last five years several important discoveries of stoneflies from Slovakia were recorded, including Leuctra dalmoni Vincon & Murányi 2007, a recently described species and Rhabdiopteryx hamulata (Klapálek 1902), an uncommon Balkan species. We also recorded a curious find of the imago of the endangered species, Capnopsis schilleri (Rostock...

Abstract: In the course of the last 30 years, a considerable effort was put into recognizing of water invertebrates of the Turiec river basin. Stonefly samples were collected from disturbed and undisturbed regions of two river basins, tributaries of the Upper Váh River basin (the West Carpathians). Water temperature, oxygen content, coarse benthic matter and some stonefly metrics (abundance, biomass, richness, index of diversity, % predators, % shredders, stonefly total score and stonefly...

Rhabdiopteryx neglecta (Albarda, 1889)...

AquaBOL.SK is an initiative focused on DNA barcoding / metabarcoding of aquatic biota with the long-term goal of building a DNA barcodes reference library of complete aquatic biota of Slovakia for use in scientific purposes and in monitoring of aquatic ecosystems.
Plecoptera slovaka is online distribution database of slovak stoneflies species. It contians more than 9000 data of distribution from Slovak republic and 100 species. All species have map of distribution and some graphs of environmental precerences.
