The first records of the rare and endangered longhorn beetles Necydalis ulmi (Chevrolat, 1838) and Necydalis major Linnaeus, 1758 in Podyjí National Park and its vicinity are reported. We also discuss habitat requirements of the species and management needed to support their populations .
The precopulatory behaviour of the larviform females of Ripidius quadriceps Abeille de Perrin, 1872 is described. The calling posture of virgin females is documented. The cephalic morphology and microstructures are visualized using scanning electron microscopy, in particular the secretory pores in the cuticle of inflatable maxillary palps. An exhau...
During spring and summer 2016, several interesting species of hoverflies (Diptera: Syrphidae) and other Diptera were recorded in the Podyjí National Park (South Moravia, Czech Republic). Callomyia speciosa Meigen, 1824 (Diptera: Platypezidae) and Asilus crabroniformis Linnaeus, 1758 (Diptera: Asilidae) were recorded for the first time in the Podyjí...
The presence of a translocation from Aegilops ventricosa carrying the genes for rust resistance Yr17, Lr37 and Sr38 was analysed in recently registered, mostly western European wheat cultivars in the Czech Republic. By means of a PCR marker the presence of the translocation was determined in cvs. Bill, Clarus, Clever, Corsaire, Rapsodia, and in the...
Efficient conservation management must be applied in protected areas in order to slow the loss of biodiversity in Europe. Regarding forests, a conservation approach based on minimal intervention prevails in most protected woodlands, thus facilitating the expansion of closed-canopy forests at the expense of open forests. To identify effective conser...
The present study provides data on the occurence of 15 species of the beetle family Eucnemidae in the Podyjí National Park and its close vicinity within the Czech Republic: Dromaeolus barnabita (A. Villa et G. B. Villa, 1838), Eucnemis capucina Ahrens, 1812, Hylis cariniceps (Reitter, 1902), H. foveicollis (C. G. Thomson, 1874), H. olexai (Palm, 19...

The resistance to Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) of barley cultivars, breeding lines, and resistance sources from world collections has been tested in RICP Prague-Ruzyne over the past 10 years. Most barley materials were found to be susceptible or moderately susceptible to BYDV. High resistance levels were associated with the presence of the Yd2...
Effect of cultivar and cultural practices on grain yield and grain quality characters was studied in field trials with seven Czech bread wheat cultivars of winter habit (Tab. I) grown at two locations for two years (Tab. II) and with eight variants of treatment during vegetation: additional N nutrition (50 + 50 kg N/ha), application of growth regul...
