Introduction
I am currently focusing on empirical approaches in linguistics. In my research I create an audiovisual corpus of aphasic patients and verification persons and I work with different software tools (like ELAN, OpenPose etc.). I am dealing with two basic questions: whether aphasic patients compensate their verbal deficiency with the help of gestures in general and whether is there any difference among individual types of aphasia considering gestures used in communication.

The aim of this project is to create a manual for description of language constructions, which will also allow for the nonverbal component of speech, and to demonstrate on experiments with aphasic patients that such a description can also include defective data. I will explore, if (and how) aphasics compensate verbal deficiency through gestures. I intend to create an audiovisual corpus of aphasic patients and verification persons, then I intend to create a notation of nonverbal units and of verbal units and I will compare, how these two groups differ considering amount and typology of used gestures with regard to their verbal production.
