Introduction
I am a consultant gynaecologist and endometriosis specialist surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals. I have specialised in advanced endoscopic surgery for endometriosis and fibroids.
My research interests focus on endometriosis. This benign disease remains poorly understood with limited high quality research. Academically, I work within an international team to develop a core outcome set for future endometriosis trials.

Patients at University College London Hospital (UCLH) who underwent surgery for rectovaginal endometriosis during a 6-year period were identified f...
Amoah et al. highlight the lack of high‐quality fibroid guidelines in their appraisal of uterine fibroid management guidelines. This paper sheds light on the association between low quality research informing low quality clinical guidance. The authors included nine national and international guidelines on fibroid management in their analysis and sc...
STUDY QUESTION
Which outcomes and outcome measures are reported in interventional trials evaluating the treatment of adenomyosis?
SUMMARY ANSWER
We identified 38 studies, reporting on 203 outcomes using 133 outcome measures.
WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY
Heterogeneity in outcome evaluation and reporting has been demonstrated for several gynaecological co...
Background:
Adenomyosis is a common benign gynaecological condition that has been associated with heavy and/or painful periods, subfertility and poor obstetric outcomes including miscarriage and preterm delivery. Studies evaluating treatments for adenomyosis have reported a wide range of outcomes and outcome measures. This variation in outcomes an...
Objective
Pain remains a common complication following gynecological laparoscopy. Use of local anesthesia may be beneficial in reducing postoperative pain. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess whether local anesthetic decreases postoperative pain following laparoscopic gynecological procedures.

We aim to evaluate the accuracy, quality, and readability of online patient information concerning fibroids.
Study design
We searched the most popular Internet search engine: Google.com. We developed a search strategy in consultation with patients with fibroids, to identify relevant websites. Two independent authors screened the search r...
