A former Dutch whaling station on Jan Mayen and other likely archaeological sites were surveyed to assess their archaeological potential and preserve them by record as part of the Dutch naval and scientific expedition to Jan Mayen in 2014. The project is registered in the Research in Svalbard Database (RiS ID 10255).
Soil samples were taken at the former stations of Russian Pomor hunters on Edgeøya and analysed for total phosphates. The phosphate distribution maps highlight areas of different human activities around the huts where previously no distinctions were possible. The project is registered in the Research in Svalbard Database (RiS ID 10194).
