Fighting the barrier to training during isolation of people with autism. The project outcomes will be based on a hub of on-line resources to keep developing skills in strugling situations, from the perspective of people with autism, relatives and professionals.
Project
• Develop a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) that facilitates autonomous language learning for adult students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in formal and non-formal settings • Create validated practical guidelines with evidence-based methodologies • Create practical guidelines for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and software developers and also pedagogical guidelines for teachers
Project
The EN-ABILITIES project will develop tools aimed at encouraging autonomous language learning for people with disabilities, in formal and no-formal education settings, implementing a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and a new validated and evidencebased methodology and approach translated into practical guidelines for ICT and software developers and pedagological guidelines for teachers. The VLE will be built on the basis of a sequenced learning process suitable to be adapted to each student and according to the W3C remarks and universal design blueprints. As consequence, the project provides to students with Special Educationl Needs (SEN) a suitable and tailored tool to learn languages, contributing to improve and extend their opportunities to education. Moreover, the results of the project will increase their languages competences and their capacity to communicate at European level and, consequently, their employability, their civic participation, their mobility, and their social inclusion. From other part, the project will deliver practical guidelines to professionals with the main aim to equip them with the required knowledge to create and/or adapt accessible resources for language learning. These results will improve and extend the professional skills of language professors/trainers and professionals working in educational fields to adapt their language courses to students with special needs. Furthermore, this will contribute to reduce burden in formal and non-formal education and language training: from the point of view of the individual and their families because the proposed sequenced learning process encourages the autonomous language learning and, from the point of view of professionals because the new acquired competences and skills. Although the project is focused on English language learning, the results will be able to be replicated in other language learning and educational fields.
