This research uses an integrative approach to analyze the relationship between prosocial behaviors (PBs) and organization, both conceptually and methodologically. PBs are analyzed using a reading grid based on results from a preliminary study that proposes a new PB taxonomy of 3 categories (and 9 subcategories) and complementary indicators. The org...

The present study focuses on the determinants of withdrawal underlying the constant growth of the turnover rate among French volunteer firefighters. Only a few studies have examined worklife balance as a potential reason for withdrawal by volunteer firefighters who are all the more vulnerable to being exposed to an imbalance. The present study exam...

Previous studies have documented links between sub-clinical narcissism and the active pursuit of short-term mating strategies (e.g., unrestricted sociosexuality, marital infidelity, mate poaching). Nearly all of these investigations have relied solely on samples from Western cultures. In the current study, responses from a cross-cultural survey of...

Contr...

This study aims at identifying gender differences in network structure and, hence, at understanding the underlying nature of gender inequalities in organisations. The hypotheses address four ego-network characteristics: network size and density, and ego‟s centrality and brokerage. Contrary to the existing body of literature, none significant isolat...

The philosophic premises of the social capital theory (SCT) number centuries of years. However, the term itself became explicit only in the second half of the 20th century. Emerged as a theoretical framework in sociology, it was soon adopted by community studies and management sciences. The concept of social capital (SC) has been criticized for rec...

The aim of this chapter is to appreciate the need for and propose some thoughts on modelling trust-control dynamics for communities that use grid technology. It takes the viewpoint that members within a grid-based community require a trust framework that brings together and takes into account both social and technological approaches to trust. It al...

Project
Studies on firefighters are of a major interest for the French civil security program. Studies on volunteers are interesting since they constitute 78% of the total number of 244900 French firefighters. VFF maintain a regular job, and volunteer during their spare time such that some of them could be potentially exposed to both firefighting and regular job duty for up to 24h/24h, 7 days a week. We aim to determine health issues and work-life balance issues induced by their atypical "on call" schedule & their nonstandard involvement. Studies on career firefighters (CFF) are also important to understand how circadian disruption can affect adaptative stratégies and work-related health issues (i.e: cardiovascular illnesses, circadian variation of hypertension.) Once compared to the normal population, both of these atypical groups could also highlight some primary research issues in human chronobiology.
