Introduction
I carry out research in the archaeology of Originary Peoples in Southern Patagonia, between lago Buenos Aires and Paso Roballos, Santa Cruz, Argentina. Our main goal is the history and rhythm of occupation in order to see whether resource availability or cultural choices are guiding the choice of places to settle. We are also engaged in collaborative research with the indigenous tehuelche, mapuche and mapuche-tehuelche communities.

[article is published open access, follow link to download] As anthropology reckons with its past, present, and future, anthropologists increasingly seek to challenge inequities within the discipline and academia more broadly. Anthropology, regardless of subdiscipline, is a social endeavor. Yet research often remains an isolating (though not necess...

The digital age has revolutionized our way of conceptualizing and managing information generated by research projects in the Humanities. Converting from “analogical data” to “digital data” has expanded how knowledge stored virtually in Open Access is preserved and shared. In spite of this, data from many collections categorized as archaeological an...

There are few continuous palaeoenvironmental records spanning the Holocene in Andean Southern Patagonia near the Northern Patagonian Ice Field (~47°S). Insights into the environmental context for human–landscape interactions have relied mostly on data extrapolated from distant extra-Andean locations that suggest limited environmental change during...

(http://hdl.handle.net/10915/54205) Our research project in Northwestern Santa Cruz province, Argentina, studies the history of indigenous occupation, from the moment of first settlement till the recent past, striving to bridge the connection between past and present times. This contrasts with the notion, current in the contemporary provincial soci...

English / Spanish When recording a rock art locality in our research area in Los Antiguos-Monte Zeballos-Paso Roballos, Santa Cruz (Argentina), we found that a section was being used as a religious sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and that this installation had partially impacted on the indigenous art, potentially putting its preservation at...

Discovery of archaeological materials is at the heart of archaeological reconnaissance and survey whether for research or the management of cultural resources. A recent model predicts certain features of human occupation during the Late Holocene in central-south Patagonia (2500-200 yrs BP). In contrast to earlier periods, mobility was more restricted, and a system of relatively stable residential camps and cemetery chenque. Were supported developed in lower eastern steppes.
