Introduction
My interests include addressing complex mental health needs of vulnerable child and adolescent populations in East Africa and South Asia using culturally relevant evidence-based interventions. I am involved in capacity building programs for medical students, behavioral scientists, clinicians and health care workers in understanding mental health problems. Rethinking mental health systems and services in LMICs my work aims to address implementation and knowledge gaps in meeting needs of vulnerable populations. Another focus of my work is around depression and the experience of adversities in adolescents girls and women in the perinatal spectrum. An associated aim is to find solutions towards bridging disparities in global mental health research partnerships and collaborations.
