Introduction
Received his Ph.D. degree from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt in August 2022. His research focuses on the design and development of electrochemical sensors for environmental and biomedical applications. In recognition of his outstanding work, he received the Innovation Award from Ain Shams University (Researchers Track) in July 2022 for his research project, entitled (Wearable Sensors). Presently, he is a Fulbright postdoctoral fellow at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, USA.

A magnetic nanocomposite adsorbent, comprised of macroporous iron oxide/manganese oxide (α-Fe2O3/Mn2O3), is prepared, characterized, and used for lead(II) removal from both industrial wastewater and leachate of electronic waste. The synergistic interaction between iron oxide and manganese oxide significantly enhances the adsorption performance. The...

A novel miniaturized, solid-contact potentiometric screen-printed electrode was developed for highly sensitive and selective determination of lidocaine anesthetic. The electrode integrated single-walled carbon nanotubes as a solid-contact material and a molecularly imprinted polymer as a recognition sensory material. The performance characteristics...
Article

Novel miniaturized Pb(II) paper-based potentiometric sensors are described using coumarin derivatives I and II as electroactive ionophores and nano vanadium pentoxide as a solid contact material for the sensitive and selective monitoring of trace lead ions. Density functional theory (DFT) confirms optimum geometries, electronic properties, and char...

Copper levels in biological fluids are associated with Wilson's, Alzheimer's, Menke's, and Parkinson's diseases, making them good biochemical markers for these diseases. This study introduces a miniaturized screen-printed electrode (SPE) for the potentiometric determination of copper(II) in some biological fluids. Manganese(III) oxide nanoparticles...

Pharmaceutical pollutants in hospital wastewater (HWW) have the potential to contaminate both aquatic and terrestrial natural environments, posing a threat to aquatic life and human health. This work aimed to screen some chemical pollutants in HWW and evaluate the capacity of two magnetic nanocomposites (Fe3O4@SiO2 and NiFe2O4 NCs) to remove these...

A novel thin film of bismuth oxide (Bi₂O₃) deposited on a fluorine doped tin oxide glass substrate (FTO), using a spray pyrolysis technique, was prepared and used as a pH sensing membrane. The deposited Bi₂O₃ film was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectrosco...
Article
A cost-effective, highly selective and sensitive paper-based potentiometric combined sensor for losartan potassium drug (LOS) is fabricated, characterized and used for the drug monitoring. The sensor consists of 2 strips of filter paper (20 x 5 mm each) as platform, each imprinted with 4 mm diameter circular spot of carbon. One carbon spot is cover...
Article
A novel screen-printed electrode (SPE) for potentiometric determination of nalbuphine (NAL) is described. Carboxylated multi-walled carbon nano tubes/polyaniline (f-MWCNTs/PANI) nanocomposite is used as an ion-to- electron transducer and is covered by a selective polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membrane incorporated with molecularly imprinted drug polymer...

In this study, a mechanochemical activation technique to effectually extract lead from the funnel glass of cathode ray tube (CRT) is proposed. A planetary ball mill with zirconia balls (25:1 ratio) is employed for mechanochemical activation process in the presence of EDTA. About 85% of lead could be leached in 5 M NaOH solution at 80°C. The effects...

Screen-printed membrane sensors based on the use of paper and ceramic substrates are fabricated, characterized, and used for rapid batch and continuous monitoring of CrIII in the form of CrO42− in some industrial products and wastewater samples. Strips of paper and ceramic platforms (15 × 5 mm) were covered with conductive carbon paint and then mod...

Solid-contact potentiometric ion-selective electrodes (SC-ISEs) for thallium determination have been designed using multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as the ion-to-electron transducer. Dispersed MWCNTs were drop-casted over a gold plate electrode. Two different crown ethers were used in the sensing membrane for the recognition of thallium (I). Se...
