Description
  • I am researching the potential of 3D MRI to predict surgical outcomes in arthroscopic Bankart repair surgeries in patients with anterior shoulder instability. I am involved in subject recruitment and enrollment, as well as data collection, transcription, integrity, and preliminary analysis. I am also working on other projects within different areas of imaging, including uses of imaging in diagnoses, biopses, and guided proceedures.

Description
  • I researched the Brain Age Index and its correlation to cognition, sleep, epilepsy, and other factors. I administered the NIH Cognition Toolbox and multiple social questionnaires to patients in various areas of the hospital and was responsible for analyzation and input of patient data, and maintaining data integrity. I also participated in other areas of study within the lab where I was involved in data analysis through the use of programs like Python.

Background: MRI utility for patients 45 years old and older with hip or knee pain is not well established. Objective: We performed this systematic review to assess whether MRI-diagnosed hip or knee pathology in patients 45 years old and older correlates with symptomatology or benefits from arthroscopic surgery. Evidence Acquisition: A literature se...

To report osteoporosis screening utilization rates among Asian American (AsA) populations in the USA. We retrospectively assessed the use of dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) screening using the Medicare 5% Research Identifiable Files. Using Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes indicative of a DXA scan, we identified patients recommended...
Presentation
ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE: To determine the most cost-effective strategy for pelvic bone marrow biopsies. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A decision analytic model from the health care system perspective for patients with high clinical concern for multiple myeloma was used to evaluate the incremental cost-effectiveness of three bone marrow core biopsy techniques:...

Objective To determine the cost-effectiveness of rotator cuff hydroxyapatite deposition disease (HADD) treatments.MethodA 1-year time horizon decision analytic model was created from the US healthcare system perspective for a 52-year-old female with shoulder HADD failing conservative management. The model evaluated the incremental cost-effectivenes...

Sleep electroencephalogram (EEG) signals likely encode brain health information that may identify individuals at high risk for age-related brain diseases. Here, we evaluate the correlation of a previously proposed brain age biomarker, the “brain age index” (BAI), with cognitive test scores and use machine learning to develop and validate a series o...

Introduction: To measure sleep in the intensive care unit (ICU), full polysomnography is impractical, while activity monitoring and subjective assessments are severely confounded. However, sleep is an intensely networked state, and reflected in numerous signals. Here, we explore the feasibility of estimating conventional sleep indices in the ICU wi...
Article
PurposeThe purpose of this systematic review is to evaluate the current literature on the use of image-guided corticosteroid injections in the treatment of patients with knee and hip OA.Evidence acquisitionWe conducted a comprehensive literature search through June 30, 2022. Publication type, study design, imaging guidance modality, osteoarthritis...

PurposeSleep-disordered breathing may be induced by, exacerbate, or complicate recovery from critical illness. Disordered breathing during sleep, which itself is often fragmented, can go unrecognized in the intensive care unit (ICU). The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence, severity, and risk factors of sleep-disordered breath...
Article
Background: It is unclear which is the most useful imaging tool to diagnose rotator cuff retears. Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate MRI and ultrasound (US) in terms of diagnosing retear of a repaired rotator cuff tendon using a systematic review/meta-analysis. Evidence Acquisition: A comprehensive literature search was performe...

Study Objectives Alterations in sleep spindles have been linked to cognitive impairment. This finding has contributed to a growing interest in identifying sleep-based biomarkers of cognition and neurodegeneration, including sleep spindles. However, flexibility surrounding spindle definitions and algorithm parameter settings present a methodological...

Background. Full polysomnography, the gold standard of sleep measurement, is impractical for widespread use in the intensive care unit (ICU). Wrist-worn actigraphy and subjective sleep assessments do not measure sleep physiology adequately. Here, we explore the feasibility of estimating conventional sleep indices in the ICU with heart rate variabil...

Objective Sleep-related respiratory abnormalities are typically detected using polysomnography. There is a need in general medicine and critical care for a more convenient method to detect sleep apnea automatically from a simple, easy-to-wear device. The objective was to detect abnormal respiration and estimate the Apnea–Hypopnea Index (AHI) automa...

Introduction Sleep in the intensive care unit (ICU) is difficult to measure by conventional polysomnography. We investigated the feasibility of assessing sleep state from readily available ICU signals: heart rate variability (HRV) from electrocardiography and breathing from a wearable respiratory band. We compared findings with an age and sex match...

Objective: Brain Age Index (BAI), calculated from sleep electroencephalography (EEG), has been proposed as a biomarker of brain health. This study quantifies night-to-night variability of BAI and establishes probability thresholds for inferring underlying brain pathology based on a patient’s BAI. Methods: 86 patients with multiple nights of consec...
