Introduction
The Finnish Institute for Educational Research, University of Jyväskylä has been the scholarly environment for research that I have been involved in since 1996.
In this context I have had the privilege to participate both in Finnish and international, comparative studies about the development of Finnish upper secondary education, learning from work experience in universities of applied sciences (workbased learning, workplace learning), and educational transitions.
