We documented a case of nonparental infanticide at a nest of White-throated Cacholote (Pseudoseisura gutturalis) in 2018 in xeric northwestern Argentina, the first confirmed for the large family Furnariidae. Competition for resources such as food or nest sites, rather than cannibalism or short-term mating opportunities, may underlie this event.

471/5000 The main objective of this project is to study the assembly of birds that nest in tree cavities in a sector of the semi-arid Chaco of the northwest of Santiago del Estero, Argentina and characterize the trees used as substrates, to establish, based on the results obtained, management guidelines that make compatible the sustainable use of the forest by the local community with the establishment and permanence of this assembly of species.
