Recent research on child-to-parent violence (CPV) is advancing in the analysis of the specialist profile (aggressors who show only CPV) and the generalist profile (aggressors who show peer violence in addition to CPV). However, although differences have been found between girls and boys in the risk factors for CPV, there are no studies that analyze...
Background/Objectives: Current research has identified direct victimization at home as one of the main predictors of child-to- parent violence (CPV). However, the mechanisms involved in this relationship have not been studied. Thus, we first analyze the differences between CPV offenders and offenders who have committed other types of offenses, as w...

The first study is aimed to evaluate the relationships between child-to-parent violence and other types of juvenile violence, as well as to identify the variables that mediate these relationships. The sample will be composed by Spanish adolescents aged from 13 to 18 years from different high schools. The cultural perspective is also considered in this study. Concretely, the assessment protocol will be also applied to a sample of Chilean adolescents. The second study will assess to parents of adolescents aged from 13 to 18 years. One of the purposes of this Project is to identify relevant keys for the intervention on this problem.
The research project entitled "Analysis of differential profiles of adolescents and young people who exercise child-to-parent violence", aims to deepen the study of different typologies of aggressors. It is found that victimization experiences in the family context (violence by parents and observation of violence between parents) together with victimization experiences in the school context (direct violence by peers and through digital media) predict a higher proportion of CPV than each of them independently (Navas-Martínez & Cano-Lozano, 2022a). These results suggested the existence of the profile of the victimized aggressor in CPV and led us to consider that CPV aggressors could have different characteristics as a function of experiencing victimization or not, and as a function of different types of victimization: only in the family context, only in the school context, and in both contexts together or polyvictimization. It was found that the victimized aggressor presents a more negative profile than the non-victimized aggressor, and that aggressors who experience several types of victimization have more individual and family difficulties (e.g., low resilience, insecure parental attachment styles) than those with only one type of victimization (Navas-Martínez & Cano-Lozano, 2022b). The second profile was formed by aggressors who only exert violence towards parents (or specialists) and by those who exert violence towards both parents and peers (or generalists). A more negative profile was found in aggressors who perpetrate generalized violence than in those who perpetrate specialized violence. Specifically, generalist aggressors have more individual and family difficulties (e.g., low emotional regulation, exposure to parental violence) than specialists (Navas-Martínez & Cano-Lozano, 2022c). These studies suggest that CPV can develop through different etiological mechanisms and highlight the need to consider the heterogeneity of aggressors in the design of interventions aimed at covering the specific needs of each typology.
