Background
A novel modality of cancer treatment based on exposure to non-contact electric fields has been developed to reduce cancer incidence. However, the safety of the electric field exposure was not fully investigated. Therefore, This study aimed to observe the safety of electric field exposure on kidney and liver structures.
Methods
Female Sp...
Inhibition of angiogenesis is able to suppress cancer growth by starving the cancer cells. It has been reported that the growth of human tongue squamous cell carcinoma can be inhibited by administering pineapple’s ( Ananas comosus ) extract. However, antiangiogenic activity of this extract has not been studied yet. This study aimed to investigate a...
Non-contact electric field therapy has been studied as one of less invasive and safe alternative method in cancer therapy. Some studies reported that non-contact electric field therapy with low intensity (50 - 60 V/m) and medium frequency (150 kHz) could slower the rat’s breast tumor growth and did not cause significant damage on the rat's kidney a...

Background: There were an estimated 2.1 million breast cancer diagnoses in 2018 worldwide, which is about 11.6% of the total cancer incidence. A novel modality of cancer treatment based on exposure to non-contact electric fields has been developed to reduce cancer incidence. However, the safety of the electric field exposure was not fully investiga...
Objectives: Yellow rasbora (Rasbora lateristriata) exhibits potential as a novel animal model for research purposes. Nevertheless, the process of embryonic development of this fish species remains inadequately comprehended. This study aimed to characterize the embryonic development stages of yellow rasbora. Methods: The embryonic development was do...
Background: A novel modality of cancer treatment based on exposure to non-contact electric fields has been developed to reduce the cancer incidence. However, the safety of this electric field exposure on vital organs has not been fully investigated. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to observe the safety of the electric field exposure on kid...
Nanomaterials are widespread in the human environment as pollutants, and are being actively developed for use in human medicine. We have investigated how the size and dose of polystyrene nanoparticles affects malformations in chicken embryos, and have characterized the mechanisms by which they interfere with normal development. We find that nanopla...

Intermediate frequency and low intensity static electric field have been developed for non-invasive cancer therapy nowadays. The evaluation of the vital organs, one of which is kidney and liver, is necessary for pre-clinical safety assessment. This research aimed to evaluate the effect of the intermediate frequency (150 kHz) and low intensity (18 V...
LIPI Press berkolaborasi dengan Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia (PPI) Dunia menerbitkan rangkaian buku seri Indonesia Emas Berkelanjutan 2045: Kumpulan Pemikiran Pelajar Indonesia Sedunia. Rangkaian bunga rampai ini terdiri dari 12 buku dengan sejumlah topik yang mendukung Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan atau Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) unt...
Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide and is the leading cause of death amongst women with cancer. One novel therapy used for breast cancer treatment constitutes non-contact electric fields and is called electro-capacitive cancer therapy (ECCT) with intermediate frequency and low intensity. The objective of this stu...

Gekko gecko has the ability to perform autotomy and regenerate its tail, including the integument and muscle. Further study regarding both developments of muscle and integumentary tissue in the regenerated tail of G. gecko is needed. This study aims to determine the muscle and integumentary tissue in several stages of tail regeneration in G. gekko....
Gekko gecko (Tokay Gecko, Tokek) has the ability to perform autotomy and regenerate its tail. There is not a lot of research that has been conducted on tail regeneration of G. gecko in Indonesia. Wound healing and regeneration methods in geckos are relatively similar to mammals, so geckos can be a biomedical research model suitable for regeneration...
Malaria caused by Plasmodium is one of common infectious diseases in tropical country that cause severe problems every year. Several efforts have been developed to dradicate this disease, especially related with new drugs discovery. One of traditional drugs from Gaharu’s leaves has been widely known to cure malaria. However, there is no clinical st...
Background: Noncontact Electro Capacitive Cancer Therapy (ECCT) is a novel treatment modality in cancer. Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 2 (CCL2) has a major role in the outgrowth of metastatic breast cancer. Interleukin 18 (IL18) plays a role in macrophage alteration, which leads to excessive angiogenesis. This study aims to elaborate on the associat...

Introduction
Non-contact electric fields namely Electro-capacitive Cancer Therapy (ECCT) exposure with low intensity and intermediate frequency (100 KHz) exerted between two capacitive electrodes increased the percentage of cell death of MCF-7 (39.45%). In addition, a pilot study of the safety and efficacy of ECCT performed in 9 C3H mice revealed s...
Uceng fish is wild native fish of Indonesia that live in fresh water river. It is very common that people consume the fish for it high protein contain. High demand of fish availability cause the fish exploitation increasing rapidly in nature. The high intensity of fish exploitation, soon will induce declining population of the fish and leading to e...
The use of NAPZA (Narcotics, Alcohol, Psychotropic, and other addictive substances) in Indonesia keeps increasing. One type of frequently used NAPZAs is diazepam. Diazepam is a kind of sedative-hypnotics drug which belongs to benzodiazepine. The objective of this study was to determine kidney function by examining the level of urine ureum and creat...
Objective: To examine bone development and its growth of hybrid of Indonesian native chick-pelung-(Gallus gallus domesticus) and broiler (Gallus gallus domesticus) which was focused on anatomical and morphological properties of hybrid chick embryo’s skeleton. Methods: Eggs were incubated for a different period, which were 5, 10, 14, 18 and 22 days...
Amyda cartilaginea and Cuora amboinensis are Indonesian freshwater turtles with the same habitat but different shell structure and intensities on land. This leads to different diving strategies between both of them. This research aimed to observe pulmonary structure and function associated with the diving strategy of A. cartilaginea and C. amboinen...
A bat is the only mamal with true flight ability and have capability to perform echolocation. Miniopterus and Rhinolopus are bat species that have some different morphological characteristics but both of them commonly live in the cave. The research were purposed to study the differences and connection of echolocation call type and larynx's structur...
