Introduction
I am a research fellow of the Center for Coastal and Marine Resources Studies. My Ph.D. thesis project was focused on the spatial identification of marine protected areas (MPAs), constructs a method for identifying potential marine protected areas based on cumulative risk assessment, and carries out practical applications. Currently, I'm working on assessing the management performance of Indonesian MPAs as an evaluation of Aichi Biodiversity Targets 11 towards the post-2020 global biodiversity

Nautilus pompilius, a ‘living fossil’ of the oceans, is crucial to the study of biological evolution and paleontology. However, the species’ habitat has been severely impacted by global climate change. Based on this, species distribution models and conservation gap analyses were conducted under current and future climate scenarios. The results reve...

The rapid decline of species is an alarming issue that needs immediate attention. With this in mind, the Red List and Green List were introduced by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to provide baseline information concerning the statuses of wildlife in their range. In this study, field and participatory surveys spanning...

Nature-based solutions (NbSs) of biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration have been paid increasing attention as an essential approach to slow down climate change. However, to what degree an NbS approach will contribute to the combined effects of human intervention and climate change has not been well studied. From a habitat quality pers...

The effectiveness of designing Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) can support the Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) process and vice versa. However, selecting suitable sites for MPAs is challenging due to anthropogenic activities increasing the cumulative risk of ecosystems in coastal regions. This study demonstrates cumulative risk application in Balikpapa...

Morphology measurements could be used as a scale when converted into length-length or length-weight relationships. Size relationships could indicate variability for health and growth within horseshoe crab populations. However, in previous attempts, the selection of morphology units changed with every population. Basically, mean, and standard deviat...

The anchialine habitat waters of this study is located at mangrove ecosystem around Koguna Beach area, Buton Island, Indonesia. It is a closed water, isolated from the sea, and inhabited by Parhippolyte uveae red shrimp. The existence of phytoplankton in this habitat can be used to determine the availability of natural food and the water quality of...

According to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) post-2020 global biodiversity framework, marine conservation activities aiming solely at area coverage are insufficient; thus, a persistent effort is required to establish effective marine protected areas (MPAs). Despite the fact that the number of MPAs has expanded dramatically over time, t...

Horseshoe crabs have survived until Holocene but, their persistence beyond the Anthropocene is challenged by drastic environment modifications that entail impoverishments and the resultant unusual growth sizes. Previously, allometry via morphometric ratio was introduced to classify horseshoe crabs into normal-abnormal growth. But the descriptive si...

The notable improvement of China's wetland management policies over the last four decades prompted this study's goal to quantitatively analyze the transformation of China's coastal wetland policies from 1979 to 2022 by applying an institutional network analysis and policy text analysis. The results of the institutional network analysis revealed an...

As a result of waterbird population declines, several habitat studies have been undertaken. Nonetheless, a vast majority of these studies fall short of a full assessment of the underlying relationship between functionality and coordinated development relationships between the habitat and threat variables. To comprehensively analyze the stability of...

The use of gillnet fishing gear can increase the number of entangled horseshoe crabs, which may later become a major threat to their population. In this study, (1) the population size of entangled horseshoe crabs in different habitats was investigated with the aid of fishermen who used gillnets at their fishing grounds from August to October 2016 i...

Transboundary issue is one of the main concerns of marine spatial planning (MSP) studies around the world, including China. With few studies on the effective approaches to address the transboundary issues in MSP reported, this study aims to assess the coordination effectiveness of transboundary bays at both municipal level MSP and provincial level...

Rastrelliger spp. is a small pelagic fish with important ecological and economic value in Indonesia. Genus Rastrelliger has three species with different distribution patterns, so they have diversity in morphology and populations in several waters. The study aimed to analyze the morphometric diversity of mackerel ( Rastrelliger spp.) in Bintan, Bang...

Documenting juveniles' presence is a crucial criterion for ensuring that a protected area can support robust populations of horseshoe crabs. Yet, there are no studies on the juvenile of Asian horseshoe crab in Indonesia. As the first report on the juvenile of Asian horseshoe crabs in Indonesia, this study aims to analyze the population density of t...
Article
There is a dearth of knowledge of the ecology and population status of horseshoe crabs in Indonesia. To avoid the high costs of sampling and monitoring horseshoe crabs, a questionnaire-based survey was designed and administered to local people to collect local knowledge on the population status, distribution, and potential threats that horseshoe cr...

Holothuria atra is one of the many species of sea cucumber that is commonly found in Indonesia and considered as a potential source of bioactive compounds. This study was conducted to analyze the proximate contents and obtain the best solvent to extract the bioactive compounds from H. atra according to the result of phytochemical screening and anti...

Thesis
Sediment at five stations along 54 points on Tangerang coastal waters were investigated to study meiobenthos abundance as bioindicators and the relationship between grain size and TOC. They were analyzed using N/C ratio and Pearson corellation test. Sediment samples were collected during April and August 2013 and identified to the taxa level. Nemat...

Presentation
Horseshoe crabs are distributed widely in Indonesian waters, and there are three common species inhabiting some coastal waters of Java Island. The research is aimed at eastablishing phyogenetic relationship among Indonesian horseshoe crab of Java Island based on molecular marker of COI gene and PCR-RFLP in combination with morphological characters....
