This paper presents a data-driven framework for trajectory recommendation in automated and cooperative driving. The considered cooperative driving manoeuvre is lane-merge coordination, and while the trajectory recommendation can only be communicated to the connected vehicles, in computation of those recommendations both connected and unconnected ve...

The response in data flows transmission in real time is analyzed, for access network scenarios, in which said flows converge on an outgoing link, competing to achieve a certain level of quality of service. The concurrence of these types of flows can generate bursts of packets, which in certain circumstances can compromise the capacity of the buffer...

The behaviour of the routers' buffer is of primary importance when studying network traffic, since it may modify some characteristics, as delay or jitter, and may also drop packets. As a consequence, the characterization of this buffer is interesting, especially...

In this paper, we study the role that machine learning can play in cooperative driving. Given the increasing rate of connectivity in modern vehicles, and road infrastructure, cooperative driving is a promising first step in automated driving. The example scenario we explored in this paper, is coordinated lane merge, with data collection, test and e...

In particular, we study how these features can affect the Quality of Service (QoS) of multimedia applications when generating traffic bursts in local networks. First, we show how in a typical SME (Small and M...

http://www.wi5.eu/ Starting in January 2015, the Wi-5 Project (What to do With the Wi-Fi Wild West) proposes an architecture based on an integrated and coordinated set of smart solutions. The overall approach of the Wi-5 project is best summarised as follows: Define the use cases, the requirements, and system architecture for a mature Wi-Fi networking solution to warrant the quality of the solution. Consider which subsystems and protocols are needed and readily available and identify which parts of the solution are missing and must be developed these Build the complete solution for the Wi-Fi network and test and validate the integrated system in an operational network. Discuss the technical concepts, considerations and choices with technical experts and potential users to work toward a solution that is optimised from the perspective of the technology and the market. Over the course of the next 3 years, the project consortium will work with industry to develop a novel set of smart functionalities that can be readily integrated into existing solutions and deployed to solve real-world issues with the current Wi-Fi eco-system.
