Many women have abnormal vaginal microbiota which can lead to ascending infection and early preterm birth, but most women will deliver at term. Here we aim to use microbiological, immune and clinical factors to identify women at true risk of infection-associated preterm birth so they can be recruited into trials of antibiotic treatment for the prevention of preterm birth.
