The draft National Health Policy 2015 is an improvement over its predecessors the policies of 1984 and 2002. However, it also reveals several gaps, inconsistencies and blind spots which tend to dilute otherwise constructive proposals. The purpose of this article is to open up the draft to further public debate and comment.
FMES calls for applications for three openings at the FMES’ Bioethics Centre enabled and seeded by Tata Trusts, dedicated to programmatic work in bioethics and allied thematic areas. The positions advertised come under the centre’s first programmatic initiative supported by Tata Trusts, titled ‘Strengthening Healthcare Ethics: A multi-disciplinary engagement with diverse constituencies related to health and healthcare’. FMES has been in existence for the last 25 years. It has been publishing the peer reviewed journal Indian Journal of Medical Ethics dedicated to bioethics; and has established the platform of National Bioethics Conference in 2005. FMES’ Bioethics Centre is yet another avenue to pursue research, training, and advocacy on issues pertaining to bioethics. Below are the three full-time positions located at Prabhadevi, Mumbai being advertise for the centre. 1. Head (Admin & Finances) at the level of Administrative and Finance Officer or Sr Administrative and Finance Officer 2. Sr Program Officer/ Program Officer (Bioethics – Training, e-repository, research) 3.Program Officer/ Jr Program Officer (Marketing and Communication) The staff is expected to work on the current initiatives and contribute towards further developing programmatic initiatives of the Bioethics Centre.
