Introduction
My current research project examines young people working in two fields in the urban service sector: logistics and hospitality, focusing on value-production and work subjectivities in the post-Fordist economy. My other research interests include unemployment and workfare policies, ethnicity and migration.

Activation policies form the core of employment policies in most OECD countries. They are part of ‘active’ welfare states and associated neoliberal forms of governance that seek to govern through freedom by producing self-governing and responsible subjectivities. Ethnographies of governmentalities have been used in the research reported in this art...
Migrant and refugee children's and youth's experiences of transnational ties and processes are not well documented in the literature on transnationalism. Existing studies concentrate on children's socialisation or their future as second-generation adults. This article studies second-generation children and youths as subjects of transnational social...
Transnational and Local Negotiations of Identity
This article discusses how second-generation identities are negotiated in the intersection of multi-ethnic realities of everyday life in Helsinki and often multi-sited kin-based transnational ties. The discussion draws from a research project that examined the second generation's reproduction of tran...
The chapter analyses hospitality ector workers' work-related identities and strategies of dealing with their precarious employment positions.

However, there is relatively little research on variations in young people’s perceptions. Using data from the Finnish Youth Barometer Survey, we address this...

Artikkeli täydentää olemassa olevaa tutkimustietoa tarkastelemalla työllisyyttä edistäviin palveluihin eli TE-palveluihin ja Ohjaamoihin pääsyn yh...

Lasten elämänkulkua seurataan syntymästä täysi-ikäisyyteen asti ryhmissä, jotka perustuvat vanhempien syntymävaltioon. Raportissa tarkastellaan lasten vanhempien sosioeko...
This article examines the role of youth activation in reproducing classed and gendered youth transitions. A large body of research on transitions examines how structural conditions continue to pattern youth transitions in the context of detraditionalization and individualisation. What is often missing from these analyses, is the role of institution...

Nuoruusikä on ihmisen elämänkaaressa rikosaktiivista aikaa. Neliosais...
