Nanoparticles as drug delivery systems offer benefits such as protection of the encapsulated drug against degradation,site-specific targeting and prolonged blood circulation times. The aim of this study was to investigate nanoparticle uptake into Caco-2 cell monolayers, their co-localization within the lysosomal compartment and their cytotoxicity i...

Many drug delivery systems have indicated improvement in delivery of various drug molecules and among these biodegradable and biocompatible polymers such as poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) have been shown to enhance intracellular uptake of drug candidates when formulated as nanoparticles. PLGA nanoparticles were prepared by means of a double...

Novel branched isocyanides have been prepared from l-serine and used as building blocks in the Passerini-amine deprotection-acyl migration (PADAM) sequence for the preparation of compounds with activity against HIV-1 protease.
Article
During random screening of a small in-house library of compounds, certain substituted imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines were found to be weak allosteric inhibitors of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT). A library of these compounds was prepared using the Groebke reaction and a subset of compounds prepared from 2-chlorobenzaldehyde, cyclohexyl isocyanide and a...
