The main goal of the project is to assess the influence of a set of factors on the attitudes of teachers towards unethical information technology use in higher education. From the theoretical perspective, there will be analysed the current approaches and studies on ethical issues of information technology use and there will be elaborated an initial theoretical model on the factors that influence attitudes towards unethical information technology use. Regarding the research methodology, there is proposed a mixed exploratory sequential approach based on qualitative and quantitative data collection in two phases. In the first phase of the research there will be used the qualitative approach to explore the ethical issues of IT use. There will be conducted semi-structured interviews with at least 30 teachers from higher education with experience in this field. Data analysis will support the development of the framework matrix with the categories of ethical issues of information technology use in higher education. In the second phase of the research there will be designed a quantitative study to measure the attitude of teachers towards unethical information technology use in higher education. Following the development and validation of the Scale of attitudes on a group of 50 experts in Education Sciences, it will be applied to 500 teachers in higher education. To measure the correlation of factors influencing the attitude of teachers towards unethical information technology use there will be used the Path analysis, an advanced statistical technique for examining the relations between dependent and independent variables. The statistical results will be systematized and highlighted synthetically through the Path chart. Finally, the comprehensive model of the factors of teachers’ attitudes towards unethical information technology use in the context of academia will be developed and validated.
