I have tried it but doesnt work, im trying zarrouk medium and it seems working well. Im trying the medium by Andersen (Spirulina Medium (Aiba and Ogawa) Hope it works, I got the Spirulina from UTEX.

I am currently having problems regarding the correct name of Botryococcus sudeticus. Based on algaebase its current name is Botryosphaerella sudetica, but on a recent paper by Hack 2004 he disregarded that the current name Botryosphaerella is not universally accepted.
I have currently isolated two isolate of botryococcus which I believed is braunii and sudeticus. 
In our isolate B. braunii exhibted the characteristics of a thick mucilage shealth, green-yellowish in colour and have colonies sometime with threads attached to colonies, while B. sudeticus is unicellular, has green olive colour and has a lipid droplets at the center but does not exhibit colonies. Both are slow growing alga at *2 weeks periods".
I have looked at the pictures at algaebase but the picture there is very different. I have also looked at the sample pictures at the UTEX which the sample of Hack (2004) were taken from they look very similar.
I am thinking of doing molecular studies on this in the future. Hope someone can help on this.
Lastly does botryococcus braunii exhibits polymorphisms. The isolates are taken from a river.

Based of on what I know unialgal culture contains one specific organisms of microalgae which has a bacteria, an axenic culture contains only your microalgae with any other clonal population.
So when using a growth kinetics model you can only use an axenic culture.

I have isolated Botryococcus in a river, when I analysed it through LM it has colonies and mucilage threads connecting. But when I tried culturing it became unicellular but there are some visible threads, but it has a thick cup shape mucilage on the outer cell and takes 14 days to culture while optimising its culture conditions. But later on ill do some ecological studies and phylogenetic studies on that river. But my theory is that the botryococus I have isolated is not in river itself  but the source of it at top or upstream. I hope you can help me.

Im currently isolating a green algae (Chlorella and Botrycoccus) and Diatoms (Nitzschia, Fragillaria), I have already obtained unialgal isolates through microcapillary and streaking but my problem is the protozoans and fungi ? What chemicals/antibiotics can I used and probably their concentrations ?
