Introduction
I am a biologist, specialist in botany and plant evolutionary ecology. My research focuses on plant diversity, functional ecology, phenotypic variation, and plant-animal interactions in tropical ecosystems at different spatial and ecological scales. I am training as a scientific illustrator and feel passionate about the art-science intersection.
I am currently investigating the functional recovery of secondary tropical dry forests

Besides recruitment and dispersal, fruits are key resources for the maintenance of insect communities. This study is focused on the insects inhabiting the fruits of 4 wild Lauraceae species. Although the trees of this family are important elements of tropical forests, their interaction with insects, especially in association with fruits, remains po...
Premise:
Although ecological differentiation driven by altitude and soil is hypothesized to promote coexistence of sympatric tree species of Damburneya (Lauraceae), the mechanistic role of leaf functional variation on ecological differentiation among co-occurring species remains unexplored. We aimed to determine whether the patterns of leaf trait...
Two new species belonging to the braconid genus Bracon (Braconinae) are described from the tropical rainforest of Los Tuxtlas in the state of Veracruz, Mexico, B. laurae sp. nov. and B. rosamondae sp. nov. These species are morphologically similar and were reared from fruits of three Lauraceae species, Damburneya ambigens, D. salicifolia and Nectan...
Questions
Question (1)
I'm studying functional trait variation within and between tree species growing in natural conditions. The trees have a considerable variation in size (height and DBH), and I want to know how size affects functional traits. I performed some linear models including size as a covariate like this:
trait~species+site+height
Do you recommend any other method/or any article to correct by size effects?
