Seismic airgun arrays are among the most powerful sound sources used at sea, and they have the potential to disrupt the behavior of marine life. Little information is available on marine turtle responses to airgun sounds, and few regulations mandate specific actions to protect turtles from potential impacts of airgun exploration. As part of the Fre...

A total of 81 samples captured between November 2017 to September 2019 were morphometrically analyzed as part of this study. In this latter we tried to compare between the population of the dam (artificial environment) and the population of the river (natural environment) in two watersheds for two different species of Luciobarbus in western Algeria...

Luciobarbus mascarensis is a Cyprinidae endemic fish of the Macta basin, widely distributed in the region of Mascara, Sidi Bellabes and Saida. This study describes the population structure and biometric relationships such as the weight-length relationship and the condition index (K), of this native species in two different freshwater systems: oued...

• Marine mammals stranding data provide valuable information on causes of mortality for cetacean populations. The aim of this study was to investigate the characteristics of the stranding events of common dolphins along the Algerian west coast, and estimate the proportion of human vs. non‐human induced mortality of the population. • Between 2008 an...

Visual observations of the behavior of over 150 loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) were collected over a period of 2 weeks during a seismic survey in the Mediterranean Sea off Algeria in September and October 2009. All turtles were observed during active operation of an airgun array that had a peak source level of 252 dB re 1 muPa. Recordings fro...
