Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC) is a combined material that will allow the concrete industry to enhance material consumption, produce economic benefits, be more durable, and be more environmentally friendly. Due to the highly dense microstructure of RPC, it performs poorly at high temperatures due to the formation of high pore pressure, which causes...

In highway engineering, the high porosity of Porous Concrete (PC) facilitates additional functions like noise reduction and urban ambient temperature minimizing, further, to hydroplaning control. The internal composited structure of PC plays the vital role in its mechanical behavior. However, increasing the concrete mixture's porosity can adversely...

Internal curing has long been utilized to decrease self-shrinkage and consequently the increased danger of concrete cracking prematurely. The measured mechanical characteristics of concrete were studied in five mixes, both with and without internal curing. Two of these mixtures have a 10% replacement rate, with one using ceramic and the other Attap...

Ultrasonic pulse velocity test is one of the most important non-destructive tests for exploring the essential properties of concrete such as compressive strength. Many previous researchers have examined relationship between ultrasonic pulse velocity and the compressive strength of concrete, developing equations to link these factors; however, compa...

In this research, the long-term potential cracking of normal concrete internally cured with clay brick waste as a sustainable approach was investigated. 10% and 15% volume of sand was substituted with corresponding quantity of pre-saturated clay brick waste to enhance the hydration of cement and improve properties of concrete. Four beams internally...

The consciousness of manufacturing influence on the environment and the necessity to increase the efficient production was the primary drive that has motivated researchers to create rapid curing for cement-based materials. This paper displays an experimental work on the effect of treatment by temperature and microwave on the properties of mortar cu...

A polyethylene terephthalate plastic material is widely used in Iraq for packages manufacturing, especially for the mineral water bottles. They turn out to be waste very rapidly due to their particular short period of use. Furthermore, the recycling amount of polyethylene terephthalate bottles is considerably fewer than the sales of virgin polyethy...

The aim of current experimental research is to examine the performance of the Reactive Powder Concrete modified by Pulverized Local Wastes materials. In this research, Reactive Powder Concrete was adapted by using local wastes (finely crushed ceramic tiles wastes) with Portland cement, silica fume, water, and chemical admixture through partially re...

Abstract: The possibility of improving some properties of precast concrete tiles under static load has been studied in this research. The experimental approach was adopted in this research to investigate the effect of two types of wire mesh reinforcements on some properties of precast concrete tiles especially flexural failure load. The experimenta...

One of the vital aspects in designing self-compacting concrete (SCC) is the amount and type of filler with respect to cement and water. These have a great impact not only on fresh SCC properties (segregation, filling, fluidity, etc.) but also on its hardened properties. In this experimental study, an attempt was conducted to diminish the pores occu...

Properties of coarse aggregate such as texture have a significant influence on the performance of fresh and hardened concrete. A smooth surface can enhance workability, yet a rougher one offers a stronger bond between aggregate and paste, resulting in higher strength. This research aims to roughen the texture of white smoothed aggregate by using ce...

This paper presents an experimental study of repairing reinforced concrete beams by two methods: the first one by using U-layer of Ferro-cement mortar (2 layers of ferro-mesh) and the second one by using steel plates (two approaches were used: straight layer and U-layer). The present study includes testing seven specimens of reinforced concrete bea...

The behavior of Reactive Powder Concrete exposed to Fire
Archived project
The blast explosion nearby or within the structure is due to pressure or vehicle bomb or quarry blasting. These causes catastrophic damage to the building both externally and internally (structural frames). Resulting in collapsing of walls, blowing out of windows, and shutting down of critical life-safety systems. Buildings, bridges, pipelines, industrial plants, dams, etc are the lifeline structures and they play an important role in the economy of the country and hence they have to be protected from such extreme loadings. These structures should be protected from the blast effects, which are likely to be the targets of terrorist attacks. The dynamic response of the structure to blast loading is complex to analyze, because of the non-linear behavior of the material. Explosions result in large dynamic loads, greater than the original design loads, for which the structures are analyzed and designed. Analyses and design of blast loading require detailed knowledge of blast and its phenomena.
