Management of construction components is vital to the overall cost and quality of any construction site. A loosely monitored site might give moderate construction quality but might be very costly in terms of per‐unit rate, while a very tightly monitored site might be able to reduce on the per‐unit cost, but it might directly affect the construction...
The performance of pavement depends on the strength of sub-grade soil. In order to execute an effective and reliable pavement design, an accurate and representative material characterization technique is essential. Such a technique would be even more beneficial if it were simple and could be applied rapidly. In situ California bearing ratio (CBR) v...
Site inspection for quality checking, work progress, material unloading, etc., has to be done by site owners, architects, structural designers, waterproofing agencies, etc. In order to do this task, each of these parties has to do a large number of site visits, which adds to the site's cost. Moreover, due to so many people visiting the site, there...

One of the key parameters for the performance of a pavement is uniformity of its sub-grade. In situ assessment for the uniformity of the sub-grade is commonly carried out by measuring the density of soil mass. Measurement of the density is done by cutting a core from the soil mass. According to ASTM D6951-09 (2009) the soil density may be estimated...
Expansive soils occurring in arid and semi-arid climate regions of the world cause serious problems on civil engineering structures. Such soils swell when given an access to water and shrink when they dry out. Each year, expansive soils cause in damage to houses, other buildings, roads, pipelines, and other structures. This is more than twice the d...
