We provide directions for integrating neuroscien...
In the present study, we examined group differences in Error-Related Negativity (ERN) based on perfectionism
and emotional intelligence (EIQ). ERN is an ERP component that is generated in the anterior cingulate cortex
and peaks 60–150 ms after making an error response on a task. The amplitude of the ERN after making a mistake
reflects individual di...
The purpose of this article is to serve as a guide for counseling psychologists to learn about a neuroscience methodology that can be used to study psychotherapy change processes. Event-related potential (ERP) is a specific type of electroencephalography that can be time-locked to a stimulus and thus allows researchers to examine neural responses t...
We investigated how attachment anxiety and empathy for pain influence female participants’ attention to negative social stimuli, measured with the Event-Related Potentials technique. Participants underwent a cold-bottle pain stimulation task, and were given a manipulated empathy rating from a falsified observer. They then completed an oddball discr...
Introduction
In order to understand implicit biases, we examined participants’ preconscious neural activity when viewing photos of differing racial combinations of same-sex male couples.

We describe results from an empirical study of neural correlates associated with avoidant and anxious attachment. Participants were given a task designed to produce a high rate of errors while their brain waves were measured using electroencephalography (EEG). In the current study, we examined the relationship of anxious and avoidant attachment to...
Bullying during childhood can have negative effects on mental health that last into adulthood and can manifest as shame, but little is known about factors that could attenuate the relationship between bullying in childhood and shame in adulthood. Three hundred twenty-two college students completed surveys regarding bullying and cyberbullying in chi...
Previous studies about romantic relationships have shown that the reciprocal influence between partners occurs not only at the behavioral and socio-emotional levels, but also at the psychophysiological level. This reciprocal influence is expressed in a pattern of physiological synchrony between partners (i.e., coordinated dynamics of the physiologi...
The ability to regulate our own physiological arousal when dealing with the emotional expression of our partner is crucial for satisfactory and stable intimate relationships. In previous physiological studies of marital interactions, researchers have found greater levels of psychophysiological arousal for members of the couple in conflictual intera...
The importance of a college degree is underscored by higher unemployment rates of individuals who have not completed college (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014).
