How did the Hamas missiles dodge the impenetrable Iron Dome? | A Review on the Economic and Technology Perspectives, a Military Asymmetry
Touted as the world's best air defence system, the Iron Dome was penetrated by low-tech missiles numbering in 1000s. Some experts called it a
military asymmetry: a low-cost, less-capable approach was able to defeat a more expensive, high-technology system.
Going forward, researches may accelerate towards the development and deployment of directed energy air defense systems based on high-energy lasers and high-power microwaves with “infinite magazine."
The Iron Dome is great, it has its limits too. It has about 10 Iron Dome batteries each with about 80 interceptor missiles, costing US$60,000 each. Hamas missiles cost about $600 each, and about 100 times less expensive than the Iron Dome interceptors. Sometimes, one missile threat may need two or even three interceptors to neutralize it. In other words, every 600 USD (Hamas) is equal to (=) 60,000 USD (Israel).
Air defense technology's operation procedure: detect, decide, disable. Per Raytheon, the manufacturer, Israel's radar is effective over 4-70 Kms. Assuming a missile is "decided" or considered to be a threat based on its direction and speed (say 1 km/sec), the Iron Dome has 1 minute to respond and "disable." Further, if Israel has 10 batteries each with 80 missiles, it will be overwhelmed by 801 missiles fired within minutes. The human error factor is not accounted here. The Hamas penetrated the Iron Dome by sheer number (1000s) of affordable low cost missiles fired within minutes(s).

Question
I published a paper in Scopus/WoS indexed journal in 2019. Since it's a green open access option, it had an embargo of 2 years. Now it is 2022 and more than 2 years have passed. That said, can we share Elsevier Journal papers freely on open platforms like RG and Social Media after the embargo period of 2 years?

How much PM2.5 is release to produce 1GJ of electricity by coal or other fossil fuel based thermal power plants?
Question
I am asking this question out of curiosity rather than any consideration for pragmatic or real life significance. I have noticed that sometimes ResearchGate increase one's RG Score only to decrease it back to some random points. Are these normal? How do their AI system measure points of it's users to access performances regularly? Are these anomalies or a regular practice?
Question
How many countries or states can survive on its own in this globalized world? We have seen local and international lockdowns, closed National and even state borders due to this pandemic, Covid19, we are presently confronted with. How long can this isolation last? We are in a very confusing situation, we don’t really know how post-Covid19 scenarios would look like. We have read about pandemics and plagues that scourge the earth in the past. How to respond to such a calamity in our own generation is a challenge every discipline of the sciences: social, technical, political, economic, etc., needs to seriously and quickly think about. Where do we stand? How do we live and thrive?! I am positive that it will require a collaborative effort of all the sciences and every nation or states. No nation can feel secured and healthy until and unless the whole planet is secured and safe. Every part of this planet earth is connected, in some way or the other. Let’s all work together! Do you agree?
Question
What are the merits and demerits of single authorship of research articles as compare to multiple authorship? Please share your ideas and insights.
Question
‘Catch them young’ is a pithy aphorism that may find relevance in this free and unregulated flow of informations, especially digital. We are made of what we consume. The information we absorb everyday on digital media, the movies we watch, the news or stories we read, etc., makes us what we are. Social medias are what they are: to socialize in spare time, and of course to contribute to some goals and aims. Especially younger generations, millennials, needs to be careful since they are the first generation to be fully confronted with social medias like Facebook, Tiktok, Instagram, Twitter, etc., in their formative years. Maybe we should not waste all our formative years consuming social media informations alone. The full impact is not fully understood yet One may find some studies if one takes few minutes off from Facebook rhetorics and mundane arguments and discussions. One should try to explore more about life and the vast ocean of authentic digital books, journals, publications, etc. There must be a reason why Social Media posts and news including politics are not included in the syllabus of schools or universities around the world.
