The appearance color of bell peppers is significantly related to their quality which affects consumer's acceptance of buy. Also, homogeneity of color is among the most essential export standards of bell peppers. Commercially standard colorimetric devices are very expensive and are often available in scientific research centers. The aim of the prese...
The uniformity of appearance attributes of bell peppers is significant for consumers and food industries. To automate the sorting process of bell peppers and improve the packaging quality of this crop by detecting and separating the not likable low-color bell peppers, developing an appropriate sorting system would be of high importance and influenc...
Homogeneity of appearance attributes of bell peppers is essential for consumers and food industries. This research aimed to develop an in-line sorting system using a deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) which is considered the state-of-the-art in the field of machine vision-based classifications, for grading bell peppers into five classes. Acco...

Rind color in melon is one of the major fruit attributes at harvest and postharvest during the storage period. Since commercially available chromameter results are expressed as the average values of few chosen points, these results may be inaccurate when representing the whole surface color of a large fruit such as melon. This research aimed to dev...
E-commerce in the present age has led to a review of all strategies in business and commerce. One of these changes is changes in the pricing policies and strategies of goods and services. Due to the intensification of competition in the business environment, especially electronic businesses, fixed and static pricing can not meet the needs of seller...
The emergence of many new food products on the market with need of consumers to constantly monitor their quality until consuming, in addition to the necessity for reducing food corruption during preservation time, have led to the development of some modern packaging technologies such as intelligent packaging (IP) and active packaging (AP). The bene...
In this study, image processing and artificial neural networks (ANNs) are combined to predict quality and shelf-life of cauliflower packaged with modified atmosphere packaging (MAP). The advantageous of using MAP with a gas mixture (92% N2 + 5% CO2 + 3% O2) over a packaging with ordinary air on shelf-life and the quality of cauliflower after harves...
The aim of this research is to study the effects of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) with a gas mixture (92% nitrogen, 5% carbon dioxide and 3% oxygen) and a packaging with ordinary air on shelf-life and the quality of cauliflower after harvesting. Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) pouches with 40 µm thickness were used for packaging. Fou...
Since the discovery of ethylene role in ripening and senescence of horticultural crops, scientists tried hardly to find out the right materials in order to stop its production after crops harvest or at least decrease this production. Another way of approach was to decrease its effect on postharvest and shelf life of crops by inhibiting its effect p...
Most of fruits and vegetables is not consumed after harvest and should be stored for a short or a long period of time and in the absence of adequate packaging, they are quickly withered and brown and lose their quality and marketability. Choosing the right packaging is very effective to increase the shelf life of agricultural products. Experts have...
Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) is considered as one of the most important horticultural crops and is grown widely in the world. But this important crop suffers from the low yield compared with the vast cultivation areas. Nowadays there is a great demand for using new and organic technics in order to get greater yield and maintain an organic and s...

Deep Learning (DL), such as the algorithms of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) and Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN), has been widely studied and applied in various fields including agriculture. The aim of this project is to summarize researches done by our group on DL applications in food and agriculture, and outline future opportunities in this area, which is expected to help researchers in food and agriculture to better understand DL algorithms and learn major DL techniques quickly, , enhance related research in food and agriculture, and thus promote DL applications effectively.
