I am broadly interested in the behavioral, physiological, and morphological mechanisms of species range limits, as well as the drivers of community assembly. I mainly study parrots, passerines, and parasites.

I'm trying to do a power analysis for a GLMM in R package simr. I'm trying to figure out the range of effect sizes (slopes?) for a fixed interaction term, similar to the 0.1 = small, 0.3 = moderate, 0.5 = large effect for traditional power analyses. Anyone have any suggestions or citations?

I am looking to assess the correlation of three specific variables on a global scale. The data is currently a gridded shapefile, each grid cell with a value for all three variables. Obviously, something like a regular Spearman Rank correlation isn't helpful here. Is Moran's I appropriate here if I want to be able to say "these three variables are correlated / not correlated globally and/or variable 1 is correlated with variable 2 but not variable 3." If so, what is the best way to calculate Moran's I when you have a gridded shapefile. If not, what is a better approach and how would you implement it? Thanks for your consideration!

Hello,
I am trying to create a global 500 x 500km dataset for a group of several hundred species. I have polygon shapefiles for the range of all of the species I am interested in and a 500 x 500 km grid polygon; however, I am having difficulty trying to find a tool which will easily determine which species are found within each grid cell. Ideally, the resulting dataset should have a species list for each grid cell that I could export as a .csv.
I have been through the ArcMap help files and have googled the question to no avail. All of the papers I have read that use a similar technique do not specify which tool they used in ArcMap, which is quite aggravating. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

I am currently trying to make discrete polygons for spatial analysis that contain equal numbers of occurrence points in each polygon, using some sort of nearest-neighbor distance measure to ensure the each polygon is as small as possible. I have explored using Voronoi polygons in ArcMap; however, that just gives me these polygons for each individual point. Can anyone give me some advice about ways to do this in either ArcMap or R? Perhaps some sort of clustering algorithm? Thanks in advance!

I am doing a research project that compares the insulative properties of different feather coats (using specimens). However, in order to do this, I need a small heat plate (i.e. less than 7x7 cm) in which I can control the temperature very precisely. I cannot seem to find anything that suits my needs doing a quick search and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas, or if anyone has used any products that fit this description. Thanks in advance!
