Project
The purpose of this project is to explore ways that heritage can be incorporated into history education and be used to address processes of migration and cultural encounters. School history tends to construct narratives around distinct ethnic groups and national states. The dominant metanarrative risks enhancing preconceptions of homogeneous cultural and geopolitical boundaries. The cultural heritage are part of "a common space" that affords rich opportunities to highlight the ways multiculturality has always been inherent to history. The goal is to develop an educational resource to guide intercultural education (school years 4-6 and newcomers) to be used by history and heritage educators.
