Introduction
A defrocked biochemist from a defunct department, Ken Chiacchia today works at the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center writing about scientific advances through computation for lay and technical audiences. The mystifying bifurcation in his publications stems from his earlier work in receptor biochemistry and his 20-some year (and current) avocation as a search-and-rescue responder and researcher.
