Reliability modelling requires accurate failure time of an asset. In real industrial cases, such data are often buried in different historical databases which were set up for purposes other than reliability modelling. In particular, two data sets are commonly available: work orders (WOs), which detail maintenance activities on the asset, and downti...
A central tenet in the theory of reliability modelling is the quantification of the probability of asset failure. In general, reliability depends on asset age and the maintenance policy applied. Usually, failure and maintenance times are the primary inputs to reliability models. However, for many organisations, different aspects of these data are o...
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to develop an effective methodology for implementing lean
manufacturing strategies and a leanness evaluation metric using continuous performance
measurement (CPM).
Design/methodology/approach – Based on five lean principles, a systematic lean implementation
methodology for manufacturing organizations has been...
Environmental concern of waste materials and product disposals has encouraged some companies to operate their businesses more efficiently while minimizing waste. One of the ways to achieve this purpose is by taking back end-of-life products for remanufacture for life extension. Since the quantity of returned product is uncertain and its quality is...
This paper presents metallurgical failure analysis method to find the root cause of a mobile crane turret bolts failure. Focus of the metallurgical analysis was to identify the root causes of the failure of turret bolts which led to the collapse of the mobile crane. The turret bolts were made of high strength steel. Comprehensive engineering analys...

Purpose
– The purpose of this paper is to present supply chain metrics and to propose a fuzzy-based performance evaluation method for lean supply chain.
Design/methodology/approach
– To understand the overall performance of cost competitive supply chain the paper investigates the alignment of market strategy and position of the supply chain. Since...
In the era of industrialization small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play great role in world economy. The developed as well as developing countries are being benefited from SMEs which holds a strong position creating new employment and helping in the development and supporting in local production. The job creation element of SMEs enables many poor...
In recent times, sustainability is an important phenomenon for manufacturing industries. Sustainable manufacturing and recycling process can be applied in different manufacturing industries especially, battery industries to produce green product as well as process. Most industrial/automobile batteries contains hazardous components such as lead, bit...
In developed countries, most of the industries use appropriate operation management techniques in production system. This is quite obvious that they posses high technology, skilled resources, and adequate raw materials. Unfortunately, Bangladesh has lack of high technology production plants and skilled manpower. Applying operation management techni...

Any industry has its own supply chain where it is not necessary to have all stages in the supply chain and the optimal ordering policies of those individual stages may be different. This paper presents an extension of two–level supply chain inventory model discussed in related works. The main consideration of this paper is to determine the optimal...
Increasing global competitiveness has forced manufacturing organizations to produce high- quality products quickly and at competitive prices which can only be achieved thorough continuous improvements techniques. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy based performance evaluation method for lean supply chain. To understand the overall performance of cos...
The apparel industries must produce momentous quantities in shorter lead times. Apparel product is highly correlated with high level of productivity; sewing line should be balanced in shorter possible time and effective way for each style and quantity. The focal constraint against the higher productivity is the variation in individual capacity whic...
The purpose of the paper is to illustrate the process of implementing Six Sigma in a cable manufacturing organization of Bangladesh. Major fundamental streams have been introduced to outline the concept of Six Sigma for Bangladeshi industries, and the related methodologies for the research and finally the sigma level of the organization is determin...
Increasing global competitiveness worldwide has forced manufacturing organizations to produce high-quality products more quickly and at a competitive cost. In order to reach these goals, they need good quality components from suppliers at optimum price and lead time. This actually forced all the companies to adapt different improvement practices su...

The specific contents of the research mainly focused on explaining and analyzing industrial engineering techniques and its limitations, scope in Bangladesh Industries. It had been discussed in this paper that why the industrial engineering techniques would needed badly specially in various sectors (such as in garments, textile, jute mils, cement in...
This paper presents a probabilistic scheduling control system based on different order interval time and limited number of machine capacity that will perform flexible scheduling and schedule execution. The major features of the proposed system include 1) the allocation of the styles among the limited capacity machines, 2) the development of an inte...
