Introduction
Katja Mellmann is Heisenberg research fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt/Main and Privatdozent for German Literature at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich. She received her doctorate in 2005 and her venia legendi in 2014. She is a literary scholar who specializes in evolutionary anthropology of the arts, emotional response to literature, and German literature of the 18th and 19th centuries.
