Introduction
I am doing research on Tropical Cyclones Intensity. For doing this,
I reanalyse the satellite pictures with the Dvorak Technique (1984), especially those from the 1980's that have been underestimated in terms of intensity. The goal is to evaluate if a trend could be found since the beginning of the satellite era.

The occurrence of tropical cyclones (TCs) in the Horn of Africa and nearby areas is for the first time examined to document their contribution to local rainfall and their trends over the period 1990–2020. An average 1.5 TC (of any intensity) per year was observed over the Western Arabian Sea, with two asymmetrical seasons, namely May–June (30% of c...

This research concerning the North Atlantic Ocean is trying to establish a link between the extreme hurricanes (categories 4 and 5) activity and the global warming over the period 1945-2018. The hurricanes intensity has been estimated from 1945 to 1977 with the aircraft reconnaissances. These data come from the Hurdat database of National Hurricane...
Typhoon Tip (1979) has officially remained the tropical cyclone associated with the minimum SLP of 870hPa. The maximum winds over 1min were estimated at 165kt. On 7 November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan was the first cyclone to have been estimated at 170kt from satellite imagery. The minimum pressure has been estimated at 895hPa using the wind–pressure rel...
This research concerning the South Pacific Ocean shows the 10-year and interannual variability of extreme cyclones (categories 4 and 5). The intensity of these cyclones has been reanalysed on the basis of GMS, GOES and NOAA satellite images with the Dvorak technique. In the period 1980–2016, 63 cyclones reached categories 4 and 5. During the decade...
This research concerning the northern Indian Ocean demonstrates the variability of intense tropical cyclones (categories 35) both on an inter-annual and intra-seasonal scale. All the cyclones intensity have been re-analysed with the Dvorak technique using both National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and geostationary satellites with a 4-km...
The North Indian Ocean (NIO) is not considered as one of the more active tropical cyclone basins. On average each year, only five or six systems reach at least the tropical storm stage, 35 knots or more (Singh et al. 2001). In the current debate on global warming and the evolution of the intense cyclones number, studies have given different results...
Subjective measurements and variable procedures make existing tropical cyclone databases insufficiently reliable to detect
trends in the frequency of extreme cyclones.
Reanalysis of aircraft reconnaissance data shows that in September 1983 Supertyphoon Forrest reached a sea level pressure of 876 hPa instead of 883 hPa as previously accepted. It is estimated that at the time, Forrest was the deepest typhoon in the western North Pacific since Tip, 870 hPa in October 1979, and June, 875 hPa in November 1975. Using c...
