Optimization plays a key role in various fields of science specially engineering to simplify the decision making process. Long-term production scheduling (LTPS) of open pit mines is a large-scale optimization problem to determine the block extraction sequence to maximize the net present value considering technical, economic constraints. For many op...

Subsidence plays a significant role on safety of the mine surface constructions above the underground faces, extraction efficiency, and environment. The prediction of ground surface movements is an important challenge in mining sciences. Subsidence can occur as a result of removing rock in an underground mine. The surface constructions safety to re...

It is significant to discover a global optimization in the problems dealing with large dimensional scales to increase the quality of decision-making in the mining operation. It has been broadly confirmed that the long-term production scheduling (LTPS) problem performs a main role in mining projects to develop the performance regarding the obtainabi...
Article
In open-pit mines, the long-term production scheduling (LTPS) problem is a mixed-integer programming problem and is considered as a class of NP-hard problems that has to be solved in a reasonably small time owing to the operational requirements. The LTPS problem cannot be considered a well-solved problem. The current article presents hybrid models...

One of the main problem of mine planning is long-term production scheduling, which is very important in the theoretical research of open-pit mining and determines the distribution of cash flow throughout the life of the mine. In fact, the purpose is to maximize the net present value of the future profits generated. Among the uncertainties, grade un...
Article
In this paper, to synthesize grade uncertainty into the strategic mine schedule, a stochastic mixed-integer programming framework (SMIP) is presented for the long-term production scheduling optimization problem (LTPSOP) in open-pit mines. The objective function maximizes the net present value and minimizes the risk of deviation from the production...
Conference Paper
In open-pit mines, the long-term production scheduling optimization problem (LTPSOP) is a complicated problem that contains constraints, large datasets and uncertainties. Due to its dimensions and NP-hard nature, it is usually difficult to find an ideal solution to the LTPSOP. The optimal schedule generally restricts the ore, metal and waste tonnag...
Article
This study is aimed at investigating acid rock drainage reactions and the impacts of seepage composition on the release and mobility of metals from mine tailing dams. Also, it seeks to inspect potential metal filtering by the soil, specify factors subjecting to metal leaching, and detect leaching metals from neutral mine tailings. To this end, both...
Article
The long-term production scheduling optimization problem (LTPSOP) in open-pit mining is a lot-sizing problem containing big data sets, constraints, and uncertainties. Lagrangian relaxation is a significant method that has been extensively used for optimization problems when operational constraints numbers are restricted. The efficiency of this proc...
Conference Paper
The literature defines rockbursts in slightly different ways based on their generation mechanisms, field phenomena, and degree of damage, but in a way that is almost consistent. Generally, a rockburst refers to seismic events that mainly happen in underground excavations, for purposes such as underground mining, road and railway tunnels, nuclear po...
Conference Paper
The purpose of the long-term mining sequence optimization (LTMSO) of open-pit mines is to determine the extraction sequence of blocks. In fact, the net present value of a mining project is made the most under capacity and access constraints. The profitability of the mining venture is significantly affected by this sequencing. Researchers have exten...
Conference Paper
The mining industry has traditionally relied on conventional fossil-based fuel sources to meet its growing energy demand. The industry is now tasked with responding to the challenges of increasing fuel prices while commodity prices tighten, resulting in ever-narrowing operating margins and increased opposition from communities to new conventional e...
Conference Paper
The present research scrutinizes the environmental and economic effects caused by mines on local communities. The evaluation of effects on these three views predicts the probable environmental factors triggered by implementing development projects. The present research aims to analyze and figure out the influence of any one of these factors in orde...

Long-term production scheduling in open-pit mines is a crucial issue in mining planning and determines the distribution of cash flow throughout the life of the mine. The purpose of the planning is to maximize the net present value by taking into account all operational constraints such as slope, mixing of different grades, mineral production, and e...
Conference Paper
In mine production scheduling problems are well-known, where most are categorised into deterministic and non-deterministic NP-hard problems because of their complexity. Many researchers have attempted to solve the problem by applying various optimization techniques. While using traditional methods they observed extreme difficulty in solving highly...

The design and scheduling of open-pit mines are considered as an important and intricate problemin mines planning. The optimal extraction sequence is obtained by the production schedule by maximizing the net present value. The long-term production scheduling optimization problem (LTPSOP) of open-pit mines is a lot-sizing, mixed-integer programming...

In mines planning, the long-term production scheduling problem (LTPSP) in open-pit mines is considered as a significant issue. It also specifies the distribution of cash flow during the course of the mine-life. Actually, LTPSP is a large-scale optimisation problem including large data-sets, multiple constraints, and uncertainty in the input factors...

In open-pit mines, the long-term production scheduling problem is a mixed-integer programming optimization problem. Usually, it is tricky to reach the true optimal solution to the long-term production scheduling problem due to its complexity and dimensions. However, owing to its high-dimensional and combinatorial nature, the long-term production sc...

One of the surface mining methods is open-pit mining, by which a pit is dug to extract ore or waste downwards from the earth’s surface. In the mining industry, one of the most significant difficulties is long-term production scheduling (LTPS) of the open-pit mines. Deterministic and uncertainty-based approaches are identified as the main strategies...

Long-term production scheduling (LTPS) is an important and vital part of the planning process of open pit mines. It defines an extraction sequence of the mineralized material that produces maximum possible net present value (NPV) while satisfying a physical and operational constraints. LTPS of open pit mines is a large scale and intricate optimizat...
