Introduction
Junzhang Wu is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Padova (Italy), and a visiting scholar at both the University of Birmingham (UK) and Valencia Polytechnic University (Spain).
He focuses on developing a system-level Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, complemented by experimental works and programming simulations (AI and digital twins), to enhance the sustainability of food systems.

Effective cold chain management is imperative for minimizing food loss and maintaining quality in perishable logistics. This study integrates digital twin (DT) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to establish a “five-dimensional model” for cold supply chains, featuring a two-step approach that improve temperature prediction accuracy for s...
Mineral resources and metals are integral to modern society, with growing demand driven by recent technological advancements. Life cycle assessment (LCA) provides a valuable framework for assessing resource use, and numerous methodologies have been developed to address both the midpoint and endpoint levels of life cycle impact assessment (LCIA). Th...
An effective, economical, and eco-friendly pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass is crucial for advancing biorefinery as a sustainable solution to fossil fuel scarcity and to support a circular economy. This study introduces a multifunctional deep eutectic solvent (multi-DES) system, created by combining analog volatile fatty acids (analog-VFAs)...
System dynamics (SD) is widely recognized as a tool for simulating spatial and temporal dynamics in life cycle assessment (LCA) studies of the product system. However, there is no agreement on how SD and LCA could be applied effectively together in a consistent way. To address this gap, this research conducted a systematic literature review, analyz...
A significant challenge in today's food system is variable and unknown food quality affected by various temperatures, resulting in unreliable fixed expiration dates (FED) printed on food packaging. The dynamic expiration date (DED) mode is proposed as an alternative to the FED mode; however, practitioners must guard against some major uncertainties...
With global increases in population and economic growth, refrigerated transport trucks play a critical role in human life, food quality and security, and environmental issues. However, little research has been done on the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions arising from refrigerated trucks that are rapidly increasing in developing countries, such as Chi...
Concerns about potential climate change stemming from refrigerated systems have increased because of the environmental burden of nonrenewable energy use and refrigerants' high global warming impacts. Currently, cold storage systems based on phase-change material (PCM) technology have emerged as an alternative solution to the commonly used vapor-com...
In this study, a novel phase change cold storage unit (PCCSU) is proposed as a mobile refrigeration unit for transport refrigerated vehicles to improve its room temperature control performance. The PCCSU was installed at the front of the internal thermal insulated compartment and was charged through a refrigeration system during the off-peak period...
The largest number of fruits and vegetables are produced annually in the world, particularly in traditional agriculture in China. Correspondingly, refrigerated transportation is a crucial link to ensure the safety and quality of perishable food in a fully cold chain logistics. However, the transport of refrigerated vehicles still is less utilized n...
The refrigerated transport vehicles and the high operating costs consisting of energy consumption and manual labour. A novel cold chain pallet incorporating water as a phase change material (PCM) has been designed. When in use, the PCM pallet is put into a cold store and the water is frozen. In transportation, the foods are stored in an insulated v...
A multi-temperature vehicle incorporating phase change material ( PCM) was designed to help multi-temperature joint distribution and widen temperature control range, which integrated onboard refrigeration system, the phase change cold storage tank ( PCCST),heat-insulated compartment (divided into freezing and cooling unit)air guiding device, therma...
The existing phase change material (PCM) devices of PCM refrigerated truck are mostly arranged on the top of the carriage, which has the problems of high gravity center and uncontrollable temperature and so on. In view of the above problems, a new type refrigerated truck was designed in this paper, which integrated phase change thermal storage unit...

In this paper, we studied the uniformity of temperature field distribution of different cold plate arrangement, and learned the influence of the arrangement of cold plate on the distribution uniformity of temperature field in the carriage, so as to provide basis for further research. In this paper, the unsteady numerical simulation of the temperatu...
