Introduction
My current and past research spans three areas 1) genetic adaptation of plants to desert habitats (as PI within DFG CRC 1211), 2) evolution of early land plants with a focus on liverworts, 3) lichen symbiosis. To address my questions, I use a variety of bioinformatic programs to analyze molecular as well as morphological data from extant and fossil specimens.
