Introduction
Josep-Maria Gili is Research Professor of the CSIC at the Institute of Marine Sciences of Barcelona where he created the two Groups: Ecology of the Marine Benthos and Biology of Gelatinous Zooplankton. For 40 years he has been working in different fields: the integrated study of coastal ecosystems, the structure, conservation, trophic ecology and dynamics of benthic communities, zooplankton ecology, biodiversity and taxonomy of Cnidarians, and education and outreach of the marine field.
