This project analyzes the specificities of the innovation system in Mexico and Latin America, the governance of the system and the science, technology and innovation policy. The research design combines case studies, longitudinal analysis, and econometric tools based on secondary data.

This is a long-term research; its aim is to build an analytical framework of the relationship between the technological capability accumulation processes and the economic, environmental, and socio-political spheres in developing countries. This is based on empirical evidence on the technological capability accumulation processes at the firm and the mechanisms used by firms to adapt to changes in the spheres. The reflexion include the determinants of technological capability accumulation at country level. The research design combines case study, original surveys and use of secondary data.

This project researches the formulation of the scientific, technological and innovation policies from the point of view of the innovation economics and of the interdisciplinary approach of the innovation systems. The principal idea is to design appreciative models to the scientific, technological and innovation activities to inform and to formulate the respective policies. These models are based on the co-evolution of the different activities and sectors of the innovation systems.
